Discussion: House Judiciary Committee Subpoenas McGahn In Obstruction Inquiry

Good. Now subpoena Don Jr and Jared Kushner, right away.

It’s a good move, but we still need to hear from the Speaker on a path forward. Are we doing an impeachment inquiry or not? Is it on the table or not? She has been deliberately ambiguous but has leaned enough towards ‘no’ to give Trump and the GOP hope that Trump will be a free man.

Donald is gonna shit over this one, because McGahn (that slimeball) has already made it eminently clear that he will neither go to jail for Donald nor jockey for a pardon.

Don’s gonna shit.

Let 'em hope. Build the case. Open hearings. Subpoena everybody possible. Start fire-trails and scare the shit out of the enablers still in the WH.

So, will Trump sue Nadler and McGahn to try to keep him from complying with the subpoena?

After all, they also want him to bring his so-called “notes.”

Presidential harassment!

This enquiring mind would like to know if tRump can justify invoking Executive Privilege to keep McGahn from testifying.

It’s a damn good thing we won the House, because otherwise they would be hauling Mueller’s team in and demanding to know “Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Democrat Party?”

This will be the former White House counsel talking under the lights, in front of the cameras, about Trump’s strenuous efforts to obstruct the inquiry, and the people of the United States will be sitting in the room listening. Talking about how he nearly quit rather than do the crazy shit—illegal, corrupt shit, as it will be brought out—Trump was demanding. And no DOJ ruling will have any relevance. They’ll just be making it clear who Trump is and why he’s grossly unfit for anything but removal from office in disgrace. It won’t be in print, in a 400-page report most people will never even skim. It’ll be on TV night after night, the top story by five miles or so.

(pours drink, takes long pull, sighs happily.) :sunglasses:

Does executive privilege extend to discussing the commission of a crime?

I would think we’ll get at least what was in the redacted report, potentially quite a bit more.

Hey Donnie, this train that’s gaining speed is something you can’t stop. File a million lawsuits, accuse the Dems of going after you, but you won’t get away. One way or another you’re screwed, just like you’ve done to people your whole life and in you magnificent role as POTUS. You will be history and not in a good way.

Have each of the principles mentioned in the report submit to a yes or no question:

Is the Mueller report accurate to the particulars of your involvement?

Gavel the hearing closed and start impeachment.

This is a start.

Hahahahahahaq…love it…GOPers whining “waaaaah, they’re not slow walking this slow enough so we’re concerned they might actually get something done before 2020…waaaaaaaaaah!!!”

Sorry, bitches, but play time is over. It’s now show time.

And note how Collins very carefully voices something they’re likely to be repeating ad nauseum: the desire for the Dems to be constrained to the 4-corners of the redacted Mueller report that they feel has been successfully mischaracterized into uselessness.

Excellent post. Thank you for laying it all out so succinctly.

I’d love a handy-dandy list showing the dates of all the subpoenas and other requests to produce docs and to testify under oath and not under oath in a) the search for Hillary’s emails and b) Benghazi; the dates of all related hearings; and of course the number of indictments and convictions or similar findings. That’s so when the Reps complain about overkill, there is an easily accessible document available that tells them to put that whine where the sun don’t shine.

I think you’re right judging by Doug Collins’ response. He sounds mildly panicked by the thought of McGahn testifying in a public forum.

Wonder how concerned she’ll be when someone runs against her and wins her seat by big margins. Haven’t heard of anyone lining up yet, but there’s got to be.
