Are these hearings going to be about fears of pearl-clutching “leaks” to the press, or about DJT’s Russian ownership?
I’m willing to bet that the Republicans on the committee will do their best to at least hijack the open hearings into focusing on the former and looking at Susan Rice.
Yates will be the only one worth paying attention to. Clapper? How many times must a man lie to congress, before they stop asking him back?( ♫♬)
Rep. Adam Schiff = the right person at the right place at the right time
ETA: he has some serious chops in what he is doing, he is not easily thrown off course, and he’s going to need every ounce of his skill and experience in the role he’s in.
I will be interested in seeing how Nunes sulks in open hearings… or whether he skips out altogether.
I’d think he’d skip out. So I’ll be very interested to see if he shows up at all. Is he still on the Committee?
Nunes will probably stay home for all the hearings, and drown his sorrows in the water bowl Trump leaves out for him.
I think Nunes will be there, and do his best to ventriloquist-chair the hearings. Which will be really embarrassing on video.
Is recusal a legal thing, with specific requirements or just courtesy/common sense?
And I’ll bet he’s up to the task.
It’s usually a legal thing - people recuse themselves for legal reasons - conflicts of interest, usually. As for requirements, usually recusal means you are totally absent from the proceedings. But this is a House Committee and it may be different.
And he’s a dumbshit. So there’s that.
Yeah and I have no idea how the House handles this. He may still be on the Committee.
My understanding was that he was still on the committee and its chair, but recused himself from these hearings or this investigation.
Then I would expect him to be absent.
By the way, I saw one Chaffetz story on Dailykos - http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/4/21/1654905/-Why-Did-Chaffetz-Resign-It-Will-All-Come-Out-in-the-Laundering
More please!!!
Water bowl? The trough down at the dairy farm in Tulare is good enough for him.
We gotta lot of that lately.
My mom grew up on a farm in Tulare. But not that one.
You are thoroughly Californian.
