Politicians have no problems , their healthcare is subsidised by the ratepayer.
Just think my fellow citizens, this time next year, we can send the majority of these donor hungry STEPFORD reps to their families permanently!
We will have the POWER to throw all of these bums overboard and let them die a slow death! Because that is apparently what they are wanting to do to us!
This bill will kill millions of hardworking Americans in order to line the pockets of the wealthy with more wealth than in any one place on the face of the earth! This is their race! Well, WE have got to interject OUR RACE TO STOP ALL OF THIS BULLSHIT!
Effect of either House or Senate tax bills on Republican leaders:
Paul Ryan - Wet Dream
Mitch McConnell - evil satisfaction, not capable of wet dream
Trump - family saves billions, doesn’t understand or care about effects on millions of others, and his supporters who lose out will be happy because freedumb
Welfare reset BN’s of the wealthy on the backs of the poor elderly an uninsured. How deplorable! Pay your fair share for once and how many decades.
The wealthy and their entitlements, how deplorable you really are.
I would have preferred a more nuanced story covering all of the program cuts instead of just this story focusing on medicare.
The Republicans are out to destroy America…they and their policies make it very clear they want America to fail.
Medicare funds the US residency medical training system. While our population is growing, the Republicans are cutting the funding for training our future doctors there by making the doctor shortage crisis in the US much worse. It makes no sense other than GREED of course, to cut Medicare and to cut the funding to train our next generation of care givers. Only with Republicans can we imagine ignoring facts and math…they are some of sickest politicians ever elected to office. Paul Ryan is worse than McCarthy ever was!
Note to Republicans: Google “Social Security Third Rail.”
The GOP loves the rich, hates poor and brown people. How else to view this?
Run for office- the 2018 elections are less than a year away! And if Trump and Louie Gohmert can get elected what’s to stop a qualified candidate?
Become a Precinct Committee Officer, sometimes it’s a Ward officer. You’ll meet with neighborhood Dems and get out the vote. Find good citizens willing to run for office.
Register people to vote. If you need to help people overcome the GOP-led Voter run-around help them do that.
Run for School Board. Make sure Civics is being properly taught. Think a majority of America knows how government works? Just 26% of eligible voters in America voted for Trump and half of eligible voters stayed home last November. Today’s 12-year olds will be voting for President in 8 years.
Run for Mayor, City Council, County Commissioner, Borough Assembly.
Get appointed to your Planning Commission. Know everything going on in your community.
Run for State Legislature or Congress. The next census is in 2020, just over 2 years from now, when we redraw Congressional Districts.
And get rid of GERRYMANDERING! Safe GOP seats gave us such intellectual giants as Louie Gohmert and Steve King. In most cases it’s the state Legislature that draws Congressional boundaries. Make it FAIR, OPEN and HONEST! We can do this!
Overturn Citizens United. Money is NOT speech and Corporations are NOT people- at least not until Texas executes one, and overturn any voter ID laws that are clearly an attempt to disenfranchise the poor and people of color.
.
And they are all so proud of themselves. Big paychecks coming from the Koch brothers, I’d be smiling too.
Breaking News: In the Ongoing Battle for the Heart and Soul of Paul Ryan, Ayn Rand Pulls Way Ahead of Jesus Christ
I am a card carrying member of AARP. Since I don’t support any of the lame brain GOP BS, I will do everything thing I can to work towards getting as many of these yahoos unseated as possible.
GOTV!!
Did these scumbags also change Medicare eligibility requirements to reject all Republican voters?
There are millions of old farts out there (like me for instance) who paid into SS and Medicare all of our working lives. Now that I am retired and use Medicare as THE ONLY WAY I CAN AFFORD HEATH COVERAGE you can bet I am pissed off at this stealing of my money. The story is important to millions of people who tend to vote in much higher percentages than millennials do. The GOP might just find they shot themselves in both feet AND cut off their nose come Nov if 2018.
If you need nuance check any of a number of political sites and cobble them together. Or find a copy of the bill that hasn’t even been printed yet.
Paul Ryan is convince that the third rail of politics doesn’t exist anymore and he may be right since the level of complacency is off the charts. 46% of eligible voters did not bother to vote in 2016. That means 25% of voters did this to us.
As their fate is sealed, Republicans in blue states and suburban districts will happily vote for indefensible bills, secure in the knowledge they’re guaranteed a lucrative lobbying career. We’ve transitioned from cynical governance to spiteful governance to nihilistic governance.
I am not saying the story isn’t important, but it is broader than medicare. Other important programs are going to be impacted as well. We need a good survey before diving in deep.
The real led is buried right at the end.
Yet some, including Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), are already sounding the alarm. In a letter to the House Freedom Caucus on Thursday, he demanded to know if they would vote to waive the budget rules if the tax bill became law.
“This sequestration under Statutory PAYGO would harm Americans across the country,” he said. “Seniors on Medicare might have fewer choices for health care providers. Farmers would suddenly lose the safety net provided by price support programs that help farms stay in business when prices are low. Rural investment would decline due to a loss of support for agricultural research and business loans in rural areas. Meals on Wheels would no longer receive funding from the Social Services Block Grant. People with disabilities would lose the support provided by vocational rehabilitation grants that help them stay in the workforce. And there would be huge disruptions of travel and trade into the United States due to sequestration cuts within Citizenship and Immigration Services and Customs and Border Protection.”
Most people do not do know what Medicaid does, what it covers. They just see it as medical coverage for lazy, shiftless people. It would behoove the Democrats to send their spokespeople out with a list of who Medicaid covers – according to their website, “Medicaid is a joint federal and state program that, together with the Children’s Health Insurance Program, provides health coverage to over 72.5 million Americans, including children, pregnant women, parents, seniors and individuals with disabilities. Medicaid is the single largest source of health coverage in the United States.”
One example in my family of using Medicaid coverage is when my daughter-in-law’s father, who has end-stage dementia, is moved from assisted living to a skilled nursing facility in the next few months, Medicaid will pay for that facility. If they slash Medicaid, what happens to my daughter-in-law’s dad? The family could not cover the cost.
I really think Democrats need to do a much better job of letting people know what Medicaid is, what it does, and what they stand to lose if the Republican tax bill goes through as currently written.
No, you wouldn’t. You wouldn’t be able to live with yourself.
But see what happened to the attempts to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Question is whether, with the Thanksgiving holidays intervening, enough people can be got out to scream at their senators.
