Discussion: House GOPer Defends Trump's '2nd Amendment' Line: He's Not 'Articulate'

Trump is not an intelligent person. People mistake the accumulation of wealth as a sign someone possesss intelligence. I’ve lost count of the people I’ve voiced this opinion to in discussions of this race, only to have them reply “But he’s rich!! He must be smart!!” In much of the public’s eye vast wealth equals high intelligence. I’d wager if you spent a few days with Trump you’d come away thinking he was pretty much an empty-headed dunce.

"He’s not very articulate."

Drumpf makes George W. Bush sound like a world class Shakespearean actor by comparison.

Mission Accomplished.

Trump tweeted his disagreement with Hunter. “What a loser. I am hugely articulate. In fact, many people say my articulation is biggly. It is just the media that misunderestimates me. Sad.”

Help Wanted

Man to care for the life, health, and well-being of Congressional representative and his family. Must be inarticulate about life and death matters.

Pity the poor translators-- who will be the ones that will actually be directing foreign policy for the U.S. under a Trump administration

The irony is that the same GOP defending their candidate for calling for the assassination of another candidate, just four years ago ran an entire convention on the deliberate misinterpretation of the president. They spent 3-4 days and millions of dollars claiming President Obama said business owners didn’t build their businesses when what he clearly said was that they didn’t build the roads and bridges they use to move their goods and services. Four, at worst, inartful words about infrastructure were their main case against him. Fast forward to 2016 and they’re arguing that their candidate is inarticulate and that should excuse his call for treason.

You know this defense of not being a public speaker is bogus, how many times has Trump been interviewed in person and on the phone? How many opening ceremonies or ribbon cuttings has Trump presided over? The man has been about public promotion since he gained the age of maturity. He has been in the public eye, especially in NYC forever.

Yes!! My thoughts exactly. I can just see it now: Translator sitting there, turning to look at each “leader” as he (must be a he!) studiously listens and translates the (supposedly) exact meaning, word for word. About every two to three sentences, poor man gets a grimace on his face while looking at the North Korean military leader … stumbles over a few words, wondering just what the fuck the American “president” meant by that last jumble of words … words he hadn’t heard since fourth grade. Korean military leader goes home, tells Jong Un that the American “president” is lying and to go ahead and bomb Japan. I would laugh if I thought this was impossible – but with Donald J. Trump, I can honestly see something like this playing out. He is scary as fuck when I think of the damage he could do to the civilized world as we know it. It would take hundreds–if not thousands–of years to recover. He’s so not worth those risks.

The difference is that with Bush what you heard was straight forward (even if he was parroting a lie that was fed to him, I am pretty sure he believed it.) Trump seems to have a reflexive habit of using language he can “renegotiate” after the fact. This is the weaselly unethical salesman we are seeing. He’ll say anything to close the deal, but it means nothing.

“He’s not articulate”—that’s from a supporter, right?
Nice;)

Not to be nit-picky, but do you have a source to confirm that this has actually occured?

Trump claims he has “the best words”. Sort of boggles the mind.

Ah Yes Duncan Hunter my new favorite Republican asshole. Giving Tom Cotton a run for the most punchable face
I keep seeing his ugly ignorant puss popping up on my teevee.
Unfortunately he appears to reside in a “safe” district so we will have to endure his inane ramblings for the foreseeable future

Just as I’m starting to be convinced that science might be able to save the human race–
I’m beginning to think we won’t survive human nature.

2nd amendment remedies and beating someone in an election are not the same thing. You may be arguing Trump is not ‘articulate’ but you, Dunc Jr., are not logical…and we are not as stupid as you.

When he was asked why he ordered an attack on China President Trump responded “I was just telling Pence to order Chinese take-out.”

'He’s not articulate. ’

No fuckin shit.

He’s not intelligent, either. Nor compassionate. Nor simply competent. Face it, hoss, he’s an embarrassment of a presidential candidate.
