"The right-wing Marxist [sic] have teamed up with Pelosi. They’re the ones who always team up with Pelosi.
Boehner should have cut his microphone right there.
They are the Pelosi Republicans,” Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), a Boehner ally, told The Hill. “The Freedom Caucus is an arm of Pelosi.”
and there you have it. Steve King is a Democratic party member. (sarcasm)
Nancy Pelosi has broken the Hastert Rule, a total of seven times in order to get measures passed on Capital Hill. John Boehner is currently tied with her and he will pass her if he needs to rely on the minority to get any budget measures passed.
In fairness, Paulson pretty much dropped that on their lap at the last minute. He was dangerously, perhaps criminally, negligent in keeping Congress up to speed on what was actually going on and just how bad it was. He kept AIG under his hat for a long time, for one example, when they were clearly the lynchpin of the whole debacle.
So they were caught unawares by Paulson dropping his 3 page demand for a blank check with absolutely NO oversight on how he spends it, screaming that the world is on fire and everything is going down the tubes tomorrow.
Remember, Paulson was bloviating about how just having the bazooka in his pocket and not using it was good enough (it wasn’t), and scolding every one on moral hazards. Then he shows up at an emergency meeting saying he needs unlimited money or the world’s financial system will cease to exist.
That will catch anybody off guard.
It was like calling the babysitter 1/4 of a mile from home and having them tell you everything is fine, though little Joey is a tad cranky, and then pulling into your drive way to see your house is a smoldering crater
Cantor was safe as houses, too. And a poorly funded nobody took him down. A seriously funded machine with non stop “Boehner is horrible and a Democratic turncoat” headlines in the right wing noise chamber, and he goes down.
Though I suspect he would retire instead of facing that.
As do I. The meme that Dems get screwed in every negotiation is as tired as Grumpy Cat.
I think Boehner was done anyway. Several years ago, the current party stopped being the wheeling, dealing, corporatist party that paid lip service to social issues in order to convince their voters to look away on tax cuts for the wealthy and deregulation. He’s a neocon more interested in going to war to keep his coffers filled than going to battle over abortion. Those days are gone. He reaped the whirlwind of the TP and discovered those people really are as dumb and crazy as their ideas. I think he wanted out in 2013, and only stuck around because those next in line are worse than he is.

It might be helpful if Boehner got Rep. Nunes into a civics 101 course at a local community college.
Right wing Marxist?
I would have supposed that a “Pelosi republican” would be a leftist in his eyes.
How is it that so many people completely ignorant of political philosophies/ideologies get elected? Oh, that’s right! It’s because most Americans are completely ignorant of political philosophies/ideologies.
Anyone else surprised that a political outlook and strategy based on anti-government hatred, obstruction of government, fear and resentment of your fellow citizens, and funded by unlimited secret political donations from anonymous conservative billionaires, is crumbling before our very eyes?
