Discussion: House GOP Summons FBI Director To Testify On Clinton Emails On Thursday

And so it begins.

Dollars to doughnuts Comey will do his best to help the GOP lie about Hillary.

So much for the idea that Comey being a registered Republican would somehow give any cover to the Democrats and Clinton on this. Obama would have been better served politically to have selected a Democrat for FBI head—the Republicans are going to indulge in an Outrage Jihad regardless who’s in charge if they’re not getting what they want. Might as well have a Democrat.

My prediction: Comey spends 95% of his time slamming Clinton as irresponsible, and 5% explaining why it was ludicrous to seriously contemplate indictment. Guess what the media will lead with.

Time for the Democrats to go on the offensive. It’s what the Republicans would do if the situation was reversed.

So…no gun vote. No SCOTUS confirmation meeting. But these jabronis will interview this dude for the next eight years.

Good lord, the GOP didn’t get the answer they wanted and have reverted to their typical whiny suck-a-titty baby selves. Wasn’t boot-strapping and self-reliance supposed to be a conservative characteristic?

Ah, the republicans have “another” Bengaise(sp?).

DUMB DUMB DUMB move by Republicans.
What fuels their conspiracies are the innuendos that they can spin out of their accusations.

Now before you all say, well that never stopped them going after Clinton…
You’re right. However once she got in front of them answering questions (i.e. Benghaziiiiii), it took the wind out of their sails. Media was ready to move on. Plus it helped Hillary.

Add to that is the target will be another Republican, partisan at that. A man that seems to have done everything to spoon feed lies and leaks to make Hillary look bad. How can they realistically rectify him not indicting.

Like I said…dumb move on their part. But I will continue to move out of their way while they are digging the hole. Hell, here’s another shovel.

Republican governance in action! If only they’d put as much effort in their plan to replace Obamacare.

Dems on the committee should ask Comey and their GOP colleagues point-blank whether they think AG Lynch was bribed. They should ask Comey to spell out what kind of contact he had with Justice or the White House, whether he felt he was being put under any kind of pressure.

They’ll all say no. Don’t let them get away with the usual innuendo BS - make them admit that they’re full of it.

Gotta hand to the GOP: They know how to milk a scandal.

Trump’s mouth offers up half a dozen controversies every day. His business and personal record provides an endless font of substantive scandals – each more disqualifying than Hillary’s email stupidity. But it’s like drinking from a firehouse.

Repeating the invented – and real – issues surrounding Hillary’s email will continue to keep Hillary’s negatives up. The Big Lie theory. On the other hand, most folks are even more certain that the GOP is just continuing a witch hunt. This is not going to help them in House and Senate runs, so I guess … proceed.

Here’s a little background on Chaffetz!

I’d turn over my soul to the Underverse for a Democratic Party that had a fucking clue about how to use information like this. The average Dem wouldn’t know how to sell meth to a jittery tweaker whose pockets are stuffed with fifties.

Especially when the Dems get a chance to question him:

How much of what you said in your presser, Mr Comey, was personal opinion?
What is the legal standing of the phrase: "extremely careless?
Etc.

This is a yuuuge mistake on the part if the GOP.

Did you all know that Comey was the original DOJ prosecutor pursuing the Clintons for Whitewater? He’s been their own personal Javert.

He will clearly relish testifying about what ‘poor judgment’ she showed. When her two predecessors also used private email, why was their judgment (and believe me, theirs was really, really bad in many areas!) never questioned. She used a private address for all four years and no one pushed back on her doing so.

The so-called Top Secret classified stuff was, as I recall, largely already published reporting on drone strikes, sometimes just forwarded to her.

I think we have to admit that Comey is a guy with a good amount of integrity, based on his history. I think in an open forum, with both Dems and Republicans asking the questions, this isn’t going to be so bad.
