I think you are wrong here. I think you are going to find the Progressives speaking out quite loudly about this…not that anyone in the media is going to pay much attention.
Warren seems to have really sparked something lately.

You know, this reminds me of the Iraq War vote redux.
The Dems triangulated and really thought that being seen as tough on terrorism would get them a seat at the national security table. And besides, what could possibly go wrong?
By 2006, most every Dem was backpedaling, apologizing and "mea culpa"ing. The GOP didn’t give a sh*t and just ran their usual playbook. W and Cheney were clearly shown to be sociopaths. And the country slowly circled the drain.
Fast forward to now and most everyone who isn’t certifiable knows that the next 2 years are going to be brutal. At least one state, KS, will end up being an object lesson in conservative madness and states that rely on fracking are going find out the hard way that when you make a deal with the devil, you can always count on losing. I mean, count on it! Nothing will get done in Congress, the demise of the nation’s infrastructure will accelerate and it will be up to POTUS to just veto every piece of insanity that comes across his desk.
Today’s vote will have the Dems paw prints all over it. And when the sh*t hits the fan, the GOP will remind EVERYONE, ALL THE TIME that Dems made it possible.
Of course Pelosi wasn’t whipping it. I used to think she sucked less than the other House Democrats. It’s clear now she’s part of the con. I don’t know if she’s just a fraud, won’t stand up to Obama or both.
I now would prefer Steny Hoyer. We know where he’s coming from. A proud corporate sellout. Better that than Pelosi’s shell game.
Pretty pathetic not to be able to stand up to a rudderless pushover like Obama.
And that’s what I don’t get. As it stands right now, when the sht hits the fan in the next few years (and you can believe it will), the GOP is going shove our faces right in front of the blades. They get the appearance of being bipartisan; we get sht in our faces. Why?
Because at the end of the day, WE ENDED UP AGREEING TO THIS. Rather than make the Repubs own it in all their glory, we partially own this. And when the Repubs get through with us, we will own it completely.
The Republicans are appalling. The Democrats are worthless. There should be a revolt in the party over this, but of course there won’t be.
Its sort of the same reason both parties keep the FEC powerless…neither side wants them interfering with actual elections. Its purely for show.
Likewise, what politician doesn’t want the amount of money they can collect be raised? That is the biggest part of the gravy train, after all.
