Right. Continued funding for ACA and not for the border wall.
It’s been a 100 days. Have you seen your accomplishments anywhere?

This hour by hour/week by week governance is killing my patience. It is a full blown mad house. Sausage in the making.
Let the GOP spend the next four years funding the government at existing levels in one week increments. Beats them actually making new laws.
Malevolence tempered by incompetence.
We are over halfway through Fiscal 2017. Half of the appropriations for Fiscal 2018, which begins in October, should be passed by now! Not even a single FY17 appropriation has passed Congress!
I don’t know how to make a campaign ad out of, “Thank God they’re all a bunch of semiliterate pucking futzes, because if those dipsticks knew what-the-what they’re doing we’d all be royally screwed.”
But, but, but… CR’s are EVIL!!!
Can someone please tweet or e-mail this to the DNC leadership? I don’t think they quite understand.
Well he’s managed to alienate almost every single one of our allies. Does that count for anything?
I wonder if there’s any chance that more rational folks will infiltrate the arena and start chanting our slogans in the face of this nutcase.
Sure, they would get thrown out, but ‘the whole world is watching’ is pretty stinging by itself. Of course, that would never get any press, but it’s worth a shot.
@matthew1961, this is what happens to a master negotiator when he doesn’t hold all the cards. He honestly thought he did hold the cards, but he’s finding out slowly but surely that he’s at the very least out of aces.
Absolutely…if you’re in Putin’s pocket.
Even if Trump were a good negotiator in the realm of real estate–which I highly doubt–you can’t possibly negotiate well when you have zero understanding of the details of the “deal” you are working on. And that is clearly his situation when it comes to politics.
In any case, even the basic idea that Trump is in any meaningful sense a businessman has to be jettisoned. It has now become increasingly clear that for the past 20 years his primary “business” has been with organized crime. Whatever negotiations that take place in that domain have very little relationship to the attempts to work out trade deals, pass legislation, etc.
In that arena the hallmark of a master negotiator reaching a really, really good deal is being right side up and breathing.
Once again gop shows it can’t govern.
Even in his heyday, Trump viewed all negotiations as zero sum games…he must win, therefore the other person must lose. The notion of an actual good business deal…a win/win…was something he constantly mocks. That world view is worth than useless in Washington. Nobody ever gets everything they want, and to get anything you want, the other party is damn sure going to get something they want, too. Even in the broken, highly partisan world we live in, this fundamental fact still applies.
But that was Trump at his heyday, which is way back in the rear view mirror now. He isn’t a shrewd real estate developer or a cunning casino magnate, and hasn’t been for quite a few decades. He can only get money from foreign banks because he has burned far too many bridges domestically. And the cost for that foreign money is going to be called in fairly soon. The core of his current business is built entirely upon smoke and mirrors…promoting and creating a false persona for name branding.
As such, becoming President seemed to be a big step in that strategy…on the surface. But with it comes the big reveal that he isn’t actually all that, and his approach to negotiation doesn’t work, and his inability to get anything done undermines his name branding persona.
Thus, the desperation that so many are writing about right now, is actually making achieving legislative victories all but impossible. Trump is all over the place on just wanting a “win” to bolster that fake persona, and that makes everyone disinclined to work with him. Nobody in Congress can advance the President’s agenda, when all his agenda is,is just do something, anything, so i can sign it. There is no direction. And for a guy seeing the world of negotiation as a zero sum game, Trump is both revealing his cards and showing he doesn’t have any chips to get in the game.
One issue is that PR literally CAN’T go bankrupt. They’re excluded from it in the bankruptcy code. So they’ll just lie there and bleed.
Vote ‘no’ and then say “These incompetents can’t resist playing games with the country even at this dire hour, thinking we won’t have the guts to stop them. Well, we do.”
Probably holding some so-called federal judge sitting on a rock in the Caribbean somewhere.
Keep using the ‘incompetent’ word every time you talk about them. EVERY. TIME.
I know Trump is way, way out of his depth and that he was never very able to begin with, even in his preferred domain. But the way he is acting now is so weirdly amateurish and self-defeating that it does give some credence to the “Trump has dementia, his frontal lobe is dissolving” claim that is all over the internet. It certainly seems plausible that the severe stress he is under would speed up the onset of this condition.
I bet their jaws would hit the floor if the democrats voted ‘no.’
“For YEARS you incompetents have been howling that CRs are a tool of the devil. Now you want one?”
Somewhere in a banana republic in Central America they’re laughing their asses off. “Ay, ay, chica, look at those gringos!”
