Darrell’s got himself a big fish to fry, the director of the Secret Service, and he’s pulling out all the stops. Bloviating and blathering have begun

I knew this was a Sahil Kapur story. He’s getting as easy to find as Brian Beutler used to be, This is not even a story. Chicken Little, The Sky Is Falling

I wonder if I applied for a job as reporter working from home with a dictionary, a thesaurus and a keyboard if I’d get it.

Easier to find. If it has a Chicken Little headline, and its nothing but supposition…its a Sahil story.

Why all the hate on Sahil?

I, for one, want to be kept informed about what the sleazy weasel Issa is up to. Sahil’s reporting on this case is great public service journalism, and only time will tell if it is a case of “the sky is falling” or not.

You don’t want to appear overqualified. I say lose one of the three lest you upstage Daniel Strauss and Caitlin MacNeal.

“I don’t know that four justices, who are needed to [take the case] here, are going to give much of a damn about what a bunch of Obama appointees on the D.C. Circuit think,”

But he’s banking on them caring what a bunch of Obama appointees to IRS etc. and the underlings they hired might think?

Right…judges don’t matter when it comes to precedent-setting court decisions, but non-lawyer administrative folks do?

Of course, because it all depends on whether what they think helps the conservatives continue their bench-coup, not whether there’s any reason to consider the “evidence” in question credible or persuasive.

And the party of fiscal “responsibility” wastes some more tax payer dollars.

The WH should tell this little jerk to pound sand and hold the president in contempt like they did Holder or impeach him like they did Clinton. Neither would work out so well for them.

“the State” = government at any level

Unless Issa wants to argue that a “State sponsor of terrorism” cannot be a national government. That lets Iran, Syria, etc. off the hook, doesn’t it?

There’s nothing chicken little about this. You guys need to chillax on Sahil. First, it is just plain news when the GOP/Teatroll controlled House abuses its power to issue subpoenas in an attempt to support a private law suit that is nothing but partisan political nonsense and has already resulted in conservative judicial appointees issuing an absurd ruling the ignores long-standing precedent in order to arrive at the desired political result.

Second, it’s not far fetched to wonder whether this little power play subpoena is a ploy to give the the 5 conservatives on the SCOTUS an opportunity to consider whether to issue a preliminary injunction banning the challenged subsidies pending a response to the subpoena. Why is it not far fetched? Because these fuckers are crazy ideologues and they are fucking pissed and have reached the “no holds barred” stage of trying to save themselves from demographic shifts they can’t prevent. They’ll decide anything and everything in any way they can manage that they think will give longer life to white conservative supremacy in this country…to the point where they’re willing to throw 90%+ of the white people in the country under the bus if helping to shift all the wealth in the country to 10%+/- of the white people will keep white people in control.

That’d be a hard call. I just finished dusting off my Underwood’s keyboard.

Kapur did cross my mind when I saw the words “Obamacare” and “lawsuit”, turning into a musing, then a supposition, and moving into a certainty as I moved through the text of this article

Bless their hearts.

Those HouseTrashingJuvenileTeaLinquents

all suffer from subPenis envy.

I am in agreement with your logic here. I only wish that narratives could be more shaded to the perspectives, opinions and strategies of those to whom we should be looking to fight the individuals which Kapur has been featuring in many of these stories. It takes a very unusual person to resist and then decide to challenge things which seem to have an air of inevitability–which is what the GOP Message Machine is all about.

Where is the air of “inevitability” of anything on the Progressive side–aside from “demographic trends should favor democrats”? People need to believe. To hope. And to act.

An example: Climate Change is a deep concern of mine. However, I have always believed that those leaders and thinkers who are trying to marshall people to combat Climate Change would have been better off in admitting the problem BUT ALSO giving people a sense of HOW MUCH WORSE OFF WE WOULD BE IF WE HAD NOT DONE WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED IN THE AREA OF THE ENVIRONMENT. That would have, perhaps, given people a sense of movement, of accomplishment. Instead, these thinkers do us a service in sounding the alarm, but I am sure many a person says, “we have thousands of windmills, hybrid cars, fuel efficiency improvements, green initiative–YOU MEAN THEY COUNTED FOR NOTHING??”

After all we did to get the ACA passed, started and running…and Kapur says, well…we’re now fucked.

Who does that “encourage”?

The Messaging with the ACA has been horrible. EACH and EVERY smidgen of success of the ACA should not only be a hallmark of this Administration, but also something that Mr. Sahil Kapur regularly reports, no matter how many bullshit TeaBilly lawsuits they dream up.

Dubbed the “Halbig subpoena” by Michael Cannon, who helped craft the lawsuit

Ha ha. They should dub it the “Hail Mary Subpoena”. They never learn.

Can’t believe TPM doesn’t have a live feed or an article up already about the Secret Service hearing. Just sayin…

Trey Goober is trying to rip the head of SS a new one, and simultaneously went after the DC Rep. for the audacity to bring up the sequester as a contributing factor adding pressure on the SS at present. The SS head said they were down 520 agents because of the sequester…but good ole’ boy Goober is having none of that. There have been 16 attempts to climb over the fence at the White House in the last 5 years. That’s an astounding figure. I would just love to hear a congresscritter address the increase in threats against this President not just because of his political positions, or their mental health issues, but also because he is the first Black President of the US. That alone deserves better vigilance on the part of the SS, considering the Rethugs have been stoking the haters for years now. These GOP politicians should be looking at themselves as well. How many Rethugs and associated candidates running for office over the last several years have also made veiled threats that needed serious investigation. Let’s talk about that too while we’re at it. I’d say most of those assholes are mentally ill too though I’m sure they’d disagree.

Darryl Issa, the richest man in Congress (and that is saying something) is screaming: “LOOK AT ME!!!” as loud as he can.
