Discussion for article #227459
What Dick means is “mitigate the threat against my oil stock”.
Using Dick Cheney (despised by almost everyone) as your spokesperson is almost as bad as promoting another Iraq War (which the large majority of US citizens oppose). Go for it, GOP!
This week insights from Cheney. Next week Kristol, week after that Gingrich, and winding up a month of Very Serious Derp with an analysis from Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper.
These “people” are ignorant fools. Why in the hell would anyone ever trust five deferment Dick again?
the R’s cannot let go of the Cheney-Bush failures as they continue to paint then as successes. This is an opportunity that I’m certain the D’s will miss.
"And when pressed about whether it was misguided to take advice on Iraq from Cheney, King said he didn’t think so.
‘No, because most of us think we did the right thing in Iraq,’ he said."
Incapable of being wrong.
Calling the Muslim Brotherhood “the beginning of all the Islamist groups we’re dealing with like Hamas and ISIS” is like calling the German Social Democratic Party the beginning of all the communist groups like the Bolsheviks and the Khmer Rouge.
With luck, Cheney will do the Full Ginsberg in October and move the House and Senate into a solid Dem voting bloc for '15 & '16
“Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), who is among the most vocal opponents of a new war, said that his recent primary election win was evidence many regular Republicans actually do not agree with the Cheney worldview.”
It was rumored the House was given a choice between Cheney or Cantor. The War won out.
Yes, let’s follow Dick Cheney’s advice. Accused as a war criminal (planning to visit The Hague some time soon?), 8 years as Vice President, CEO of war and oil contractor Halliburton, former congressperson, former Department of Defense, back end planner of the glorious and totally successful invasion of Iraq, with it’s accompanying not-on-the-books trillion $ bill and gifts to wounded veterans which will cost them, and us, untold billions, heartache and pain for years to come. He’s been so very successful in his decades pulling the defense and war strings. Let’s follow Dick Cheney on the next glorious crusade (and feel free to make that upper case, ISIS will see it that way). PS, When is he going to come clean on the deal he made as VP with oil execs? Why has that remained secret?
When your world view, to borrow a phrase from his running mate, is “you’re either with us or against us,” it all makes sense. No place for nuance or the possibility of being wrong in that world.
He “had other priorities” when it came to actually doing war stuff himself and he never shot at anybody except by accident, but man, he talks tough, and I guess that makes these RWNJs swoon like bobbysoxers. That’s the only reason I can think of, because he’s famous mostly for being unbelievably wrong about really important stuff.
“He has a great history with foreign policy," Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK)
Markwayne-- Great as in the way “The Great War” was great?
How can people be so blindly partisan? I wish someone on the Dem side would stand up and point out that the very reason we have the mess we have in the ME today is entirely because we destabilized it with our invasion of Iraq.
Everyone wishes they can be Dirty Harry and force their will upon people. But guess what people, it’s a freaking movie. That’s not how it happens in real life. There are messy consequences these chicken hawks fail to acknowledge.
“I need you to clean up my legacy. Whaddaya say?”
Who are these clowns kidding aside from themselves and select media?
A detail missing from the story: The stench of carrion and the gathered World of Warcraft red, white and blue vultures…
What a shock!!! House GOP embraces Darth Vader. The Evil One who lied us into a trillion dollar (and counting) War for Oil and Halliburton profits. A nut case who got everything wrong as VP and puppet master to Bush the Minor. It’s enough to make you cry.
With organs for transplant in short supply, I am always saddened to see that we wasted one on Mr. Cheney.
