Discussion: House GOP Campaign Chair Disavows Steve King: 'We Must Stand Up Against White Supremacy'

While I realize this is self serving -after all King just told everybody that Republicans and white supremacists are equivalent which might give a few voters pause- I guess it is better late than never. Not a lot better, but some.

If Steve King lost, I would go from happy to jubilant.
If King and Cruz both lost, I would go to ecstatic.

It has been a long drought, and I am still retaining a pretty pessimistic outlook on the election as a whole.

Sadly what we’re seeing is not some final awaking of many in the GOP to the blatant racism many of their fellows have been spouting for years, it’s just they are drawing the lines at attacking Jewish people. I guarantee you Muslims/Mexicans/Black Americans/Brown immigrants are all still fine to demonize with all these new GOP ā€˜civility’ converts.

That would be this Steve Stivers? Head of this NRCC?

Buh-bye, Cracker!

ā€œWe must stand up against white supremacy and hate in all formsā€

All forms = all GOP/conservative organizations in this country. They are LITERALLY conjoined and indistinguishable at this point.

Could this possibly mean that his constituents are turning away from their racism, xenophobia, white supremacy?

NRCC Chair: We Must Stand Up Against White Supremacy

Starting when?

Isn’t that going to be hard to do when the current president and many key members of his administration – particularly the Attorney General, the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Director of ICE, and at least one Senior Advisor to the President – are either avowed racists or comfortable implementing racist policies?

And, on the political side of things, how will the GOP ā€œstand up against white supremacyā€ when research suggests that white supremacy was an unspoken plank of the Republican platform in 2016 and a strong driver of Republican voter turnout? Won’t it hurt the GOP in the midterms if they suddenly walk away from a big part of their base?

What is the GOP going to do about Fox News, which only last week was promoting the false assertion that Central American migrants will bring diseases to the US – including smallpox, which was famously eradicated in the wild 40 years ago?

You know you don’t want to pull a muscle or anything so why not try to put a small bounce in your step? Increase the amount of bounce everyday until Nov. 6th, and then let loose with a happy dance on Nov. 7th. (even if it’s small performance)

So a week out from the election and the incumbent candidate only has $200K in the coffers? Isn’t that strange?

This is a mealy-mouthed tactic to avoid the calls for King to be expelled from congress.

Brooks liked ā€œbackwards-clothes dayā€ before homecoming.

After Pittsburgh White Nationalism isn’t funny anymore. Trying to cultivate the Nazis comes with a cost. Hence a lot of GOP politicians are running away. Poor ol’ Steve King is left holding the bag.

Well I guess it’s ā€˜nice’ to know finally what will sour the GOP and apparently this was enough.

It fucking better have been.

I’m sorry, but NO, DAVID! You haven’t even begun to see the crazy that runs in the great northwest. Our liberals might be a little nuts, but the conservatives that run against them are Larouche libertarians, or worse.

The Republican Party is in it’s death throes as an American institution and filled with such filth that you need to stop keeping it alive.

ā€œCompletely inappropriateā€? Not so bad. Kinda like brown shoes with a tuxedo - could’ve been worse.

That’s a good one.

Don’t forget that it was Brooks who cynically and smugly chortled at the fact he possesses a lock on his job and will never be asked to leave, regardless of the dreck he pukes onto the page each week. He revels in the knowledge he can be as lousy as he wants and suffer no consequence.

Well he’s living up to his side of the bargain then cause he pukes dreck every time he touches the keyboard.

Don’t see a bothsiderism here. He’s a commentator, not a journalist. He loathes Trump and feels his party left him. Mostly on that do I find him one of the few conservative voices I can tolerate while peeking into their world view.
