and throughout Bush’s administration. Remember all the fake news stories they were producing in house and then giving to the media? It was illegal then, but like so many other crimes, nobody lifted a finger against the Bushies, so now republicans feel emboldened to pump out as much propaganda as fake news as they want, with no fear of prosecution.

Throughout the 2008 and 2012 election, the Democrats were effectively utilizing Web-based media for organizing and getting the word out among their base. The Republicans looked at it and the most they could come up with was another lie. That pretty much sums the modern parties up.

The people they are targeting already know that Faux news isn’t to be trusted and has a Republican bias, so people are more likely to ignore it but if you make it seem like some local news outlet they are more likely to read it, and less likely to think its just a partisan attack.

Diabolical. I suppose one could say that’s it’s just a digital age version of dirty tricks: Doctored photos, forged letters, fake press releases, to name just three, have been with us for some time now.
Rove and before him guys like Atwater and members of Nixon’s “Creep” have been masters of the game.

I live in a gerrymandered GOP district. We have a suburban daily with a rw editoral page editor who will print almost any kind of letter with patently false info or allegations. More often the letter will be a restatement of some discredited allegation about, say, Benghazi or White Water or Vince Foster. They print it anyway.
This is almost a daily occurrence.
What’s a mother to do? Lot of that going around.
