Discussion: House GOP Blocks LGBT Amendment After Dem Introduces It A Third TIme

Wow, House Republicans, way to show your support for Donald Trump’s assurance to America’s LGBTQ community that we can count on him and the Republicans. So … 1) You don’t support our freedom to marry the adult of our choice; 2) The Pulse nightclub isn’t a gay club, it’s for Latinos; 3) We can kiss your asses with regards to any type of employment protections; 4) You “love” us but “hate” our “lifestyles.”

Did I miss anything? Oh, you’re so welcoming, GOP. But, you know what? – I think I’ll take my chances with Hillary.

A little OT, but not much: MENSA Genius, Native-American rights proponent, and former “Scooby Doo” supervillain Scott “Pocahontas” Brown is trying his hand at the gay-washing, just like the rest of the pussy Republican Teabaggers, trying to remove the gay aspect of the tragedy in Orlando. It wasn’t REALLY a gay club, dontcha know, because there were a lot of those young brown people there, so it was really an attack on ALL people, not just the fag…oops, I mean TEH GHEYS. They think they can do the same thing to the gay community that they tried to do with the black community by minimizing Black Lives Matter, attempting to change the conversation to All Lives Matter, but it ain’t gonna work. The GOP has spent decades demonizing the gay community for political gain, but they are deathly afraid of the gays, because they know we fight back, and usually to the death. I mean, after all we’ve been through for so long, what the fuck do we have to lose?

I disagree that “the pro-LGBT amendment caused the entire spending bill to fail in the House.”

Republicans want the United States military to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. Republicans voted against the bill to make sure that contractors can still do it.

“Seems to me a pretty basic thing to do."
Unless you are a chickenshit anti Obama anything racist who kowtows to the religious right.

Republicans: Doing everything in their power to elect Democrats.
Tone deaf taken to a new level

There’s what republicans say for the cameras, and there’s what they do.

Scratching my head here – wondering just what in the hell they believe they’re going to gain by trying to downplay the center fact in this tragedy: Internalized Homophobia–stoked in large part by assholes just like the Republicans–is what prompted this young man do commit this horrific act and murder 49 human beings and maim over fifty more. WTF is it with these heartless jerks? Go to Hell, Scott Brown, Pete Sessions, Pam Bondi and all of you smug asshats who have long promoted the kind of policies, intolerance and hatred that leads to these tragedies. You people are fucking sick. You’re unempathetic, heartless right-wingers who deserve to have part of the responsibility for this kind of act laid at your feet. The lies you peddle, the intolerance you promote. You own this, GOP.

I don’t get it either. But, as with a lot of things, it’s like the GOP members are oblivious to the fact that the Internet exists and we now live in a world of instant global communication, where nothing digital really dies. It’s like the Republicans think this is 1952, and they can bury anything they want, and they can always control the narrative. You think they would have learned something after the George Allen and Todd Akin fiascos but, luckily for us, apparently they haven’t, and I honestly don’t think they ever will, due to their 19th century DNA.

The House “Freedom Caucus” and your tax dollars, at work.

If only Republicans loved the LGBT community as much as they love their AR-15s. Sigh.

I love the way that House and Senate Republicans continue to make it harder on the R down ticket races with each passing day.

And THIS is why nobody believes a freakin’ thing out of the lying GOPpers mouths. If you can’t guarantee protection to LGBT employees working on GOVERNMENT projects after Orlando then all the ‘thoughts and wishes’ BS that you spew is just that…BS.

Why do people vote for these homophobic bigots? Speaks volumns about our country. Cable News? Bigoted Ministers? At least 2 major long standing main stream protestant churches in my city have split over LLBT issue.

That Moment of Silence that Ryan held - now you know why the Dems walked, America. Hypocrites every single one of them. I suspect that they figure a dead LGBT person is a good LGBT person, and after all their faux Christian religion tells them that these people will burn in Hell. I find myself wondering how many of these GOP liars will find themselves facing God one day and having to explain this kind of praying and hypocrisy. I suspect that they will find themselves doing a little time in Purgatory over this one, because God does not like prayers that are fraudulent I suspect. When it comes to hate and ignorance, the GOP/TP crowd have it all covered really well. And they wonder why they are so reviled by the American people.

Today’s Republican party: hate the sinner, hate the sin.

Our youngest son, for almost two years and with his husband, has worked in East Africa to establish simple vaccination stations. Yesterday afternoon our oldest son came by for a quick visit. He came out to the stables, looking a bit grim, and said, “Dad, as stupid as it sounds, I think for the very first time I’d worry more about ---- if he were here instead of there.” He said he had called his brother and talked to him and his spouse for some time…and predictably, his brother told him to calm down!
Although he didn’t have to be, he was always protective of his ‘baby brother.’ He had tears in his eyes and I just just about lost it. I lightened the moment by telling him that his ‘baby brother’ was a grown man and a physician and would be fine. But a part of me understood what he meant.
This moment is a complex if somewhat dark one in the US, but there is so much that’s positive and promising. As the regressive right loses ground on LGBT issues and as their pols and preachers stoke the hate in sporadic backlashes, there will be another battle to fight, and another. But in the end, the merchants of hate will lose.

Bigots rule Ryan’s GOP House!

You and your better half raised three great boys. Wonderful to hear – thank you for a morning smile.

Edited to correct number of great boys!

I should mention that we’ve got three. The middle one lives in Olympia, WA. and is just a good man as well. They are all very close and, growing up, when you had the proverbial ‘problem’ with one, you had a problem with all three.
They are all good and kind men, and we are proud. Forgive an ol’ bragging father. I’ve been lucky!
