Bernie, at least release your tax filings as well…now would be nice.
seriously? Bernie’s holding back? 2020 ain’t 2016 no more.
Hoo boy! The twitlerverse is about to blow!
Because Trump will release his the moment Bernie does. I don’t think the matters are related.
That’s the thing. Cohen’s testimony was most remarkable because it like tossing chum in the water. (the sharks are the good guys in this metaphor)
The house democrats cannot have too many of these doofuses testify publicly.
More of that statement from Pelosi’s spokeswoman:
Every day the American people and Congress learn more about President Trump’s improprieties, from conflicts of interest to influence peddling, potential tax evasion and violations of the Constitution — all roads leading back to President Trump’s finances. These improprieties, and the lack of transparency around them, give the House legitimate legislative, oversight and legal reasons to review the President’s tax returns. We will take all necessary steps, including litigation, if necessary, to obtain them.
Except in principle.
I wish Bernie would release his tax returns if only so that people can start raving about other things they don’t like about him or his campaign. (And yes, it is odd that it seems to be so complicated, or involve so much effort. I should think all he has to do is block out his SSN and bank routing information. But in the end, he will release or not, and if it really bothers someone so much that he hasn’t, then that is a perfectly valid reason for said person not to vote for him.) This particular article on TPM is about Trump and his taxes, with no mention of Bernie Sanders, and yet the first comments are (which seems odd in its own way).
This is going to be an interesting weekend. It seems that all of Trump’s chickens are coming home to roost at the same time.
I think Trump’s are more like Turkey Buzzards.
It’s like the whole world is coming down on him.
Boom! goes the dynamite. I expect an epic tweetstorm in response. And guess what? I’ll lay odds the House gets what they ask for. Let’s see how much the Liar-in-Chief is actually worth.
O I like that. Tens of thousands of turkey buzzards circling makes such a good optic - much better than chickens.
@maximus - yep. And he came back with nothing. I don’t know how much more of this avalanche there is, but it’s all going to come down on him.
Given that Mnuchin is linked to and an active participant in the big steaming pile of pre-administration criminality (Trump Campaign Finance Chair, RNC finance liaison and Transition Team - trifecta!), you know he’s going to deny releasing Anus’s taxes for no good reason. Prepare for another epic legal battle that they’ll lose but nevertheless putting the nation through untold strain yet again.
The Republican party and their king is nothing else but a malicious pack of governmental vandals.
I don’t typically comment, but…hooo, boy.
If the IRS doesn’t play along with a request, can the returns be subpoenaed ? The article mentions litigation, but seems like subpoenas are the next step?
Yes. I see no reason at all why not.
Unless he can come up with a good reason for not doing it.
And, personally, I can’t think of any, if by “good” we mean “in the public interest.”
Â
Not odd at all, if by “odd” we mean “unusual.”
I just hope they’ve hid the nuclear football bigly well this weekend…
