I really hate when people grandstand like this. While I agree wholeheartedly that the tRump needs to be impeached at the very least it is well to remember that impeachment is as much a political process as it is a legal one. It is completely unrealistic to think this is going anywhere right now.
Give your freakin’ colleagues a chance to do some oversight and produce the evidence needed to make the real arguments needed for impeachment. At that point you can get the majority of the public on side and then - and only then - will you have a chance of changing the calculus in the senate and getting the required votes to remove him.
I know the Dems have felt like they’ve had no power for a long time so some think they should try to start all the changes on Day 1.
Things are about to get interesting. Just keep poking the [insert analogous creature that doesn’t deserve this here].

Remember when the Republicans impeached Bill Clinton over an extra-marital liaison? Remember when the Republicans and their propaganda cable TV and media partner were proclaiming that Barack Obama must be impeached?
Oh boy. Much as I’m pleased the Democrats are back in charge, why does it always remind me of this? Just replace “Upper Class Twit of the Year” with “Incoming Democratic Majority,” rinse and repeat.

Okay, is this a new thing? “Democrats take control of Congress” I mean. It was in the AP article about Trump appointees being confirmed (by the Senate, which obviously we do not control) and now Tierney has it here (though with the contradiction of “House Democrats” right there in the sentence).
Amongst most TPM readers, this can be brushed aside with “eh, we know what is meant”, but IMO we need to choose our language carefully so that “Democrats control Congress!” does not become a thing. We don’t control Congress. We aren’t “taking control of Congress” today.

I just read that Nancy Pelosi believes that Mueller may well indict Trump regardless of what the DOJ says. They are hitting the floor running and it’s all just exactly what I had hoped for. If he does indict Trump and finds that his election was fraudulent, then so was Pence’s and Hello President Pelosi.
