Sometimes, in life, it’s a good idea to cut one’s losses and admit defeat. Most sane people realize this. Continuing on in this manner will eventually tire even the most base of the base. They will end up at that Tortilla Coast restaurant with the core base … Palin, Taitz, Bachmann, Huckabee, and the rest of the failed and stupid.

The plan initially got traction when it became clear that enough lawmakers had lined up behind Obama’s Iran deal to make it essentially impossible for Republicans to even force him into the embarrassing position of having to veto the disapproval resolution.

Sorry, but I’m just not seeing how this is embarrassing in any way to PBO. It embarrassing to the GOP, but that’s just a normal day in RWNJ-land.

“Tortilla Coast” Republicans? “Kim Davis” Republicans=better.

This looks like a version of the move that LePage did in Maine when he tried to pocket veto bills when the State legislature was still in session. It should play well with Cruz’ base since it will feed into their narrative that Obama is lawless. It has no real chance of being taken seriously by any court, even at a time when conservative craziness can usually find a judge to sign on to it.

Obama will lift the sanctions at the appropriate time. The Republicans will sue. The suit will get killed at some point. And Congress will be saved from having to vote on this measure, which is actually good for the Republicans who don’t want a losing vote and the Democrats who don’t want to vote.

At least that seems to be the Cruz plan here.

You are correct.

Plus, that’s the way the IAEA has conducted business for 30 years on every deal, including the ones where the US is involved. It’s never been a question or a problem before.

So no vote and Admin goes forward with implementation per the agreement. What is the House remedy? File a lawsuit? They will do that anyway.

The law governing this agreement covers the US agreement. The admin is not responsible for agreements to which they are not a party and Congress has no jurisdiction over any such agreements.

This is yet another hairbrained scheme out of the do nothing Congress which will do nothing but allow them to claim further victim status.

Blah, blah, blah. Grow up already.

Well, the GOP nonsense is even more convoluted than usual.

Gracias!

You flatter it with the term “tactics”. More like “floundering reaction”.

So, what’s their excuse for not taking up the AUMF against ISIS?
Is the clock not yet ticking on that item either?

You are criticizing a GOP idea based on facts?

TPM:

Members of the House Freedom Caucus met at Tortilla Coast – the favored Capitol Hill haunt of conservative House troublemakers …

If House Conservatives like Mexican so much, why do they hate Mexicans? And why don’t they move to Mexico? Real Americans eat AMERICAN food, like french fries and pizza!

But that’s it isn’t it? The first thing the GOP does when it finds it can’t win by the rules [that they themselves agreed to] is to figure out ways to cheat.

Like so many other times,Republicans have already lost. They think delaying it makes them look better and makes Obama look worse.

Has Ted Cruz made his college transcripts public? For someone so smart and educated, he sure seems like an idiot. I’m starting to wonder if he really was an Ivy League student.

The “side deal” which I think refers to the inspection of Parchin is not part of the 5 + 1 negotiations with Iran and not subject to US Congressional review. In that agreement the IAEA negotiated directly with Iran on the inspection methods of a site it declared of no concern more than 10 years ago. The US and it’s allies did not broker or participate in that negotiation nor does it appear in the 5 + 1 / Iran.

Another stunt in the US Congress. I’m starting to get a grip on this “exceptionalism” thing though. Exceptionally childish and stupid.

One day America will rue it’s real immigrant problem. The one that lets folks like Murdock in to rip the guts out of a country he doesn’t give a shit about.
