Takes a lot of chutzpah for someone with R in back of his name to say he’ll do something, anything, to oppose the incumbent. Personally, I can’t think of any R who would be acceptable to Democrats, so it’s going to be lonely.

After that totally insane stunt he did with Gary Johnson in '16, he’ll be painted by well, - everyone as a total idiot and/or flake. And for good reason.

It never hurts anyone who says he or she is a candidate, now matter how unrealistic the prospects are. They get to coast on it for a while, maybe a book, or a lecture, or a seat on a board somewhere, and always the inevitable appearances on cable to discuss why they’re running.

I give the guy ® credit for being very disturbed and seeing the unsavory, and having the male spheres to say so. It is at least a glimmer of hope that someday republicans can be open to evidence again. If a repug say this then just maybe they could see lousy access to health care and climate change as like real things to actually do something about.
Yeah I know its a stretch. But the inverse is definitely true. If you dont see the unsavory and you are not disturbed to the point of opposition … then you most certainly don`t see the the other problems either.

Yes, Pelosi said recently she was unaware of the episode. She has been made aware of it, and of the recording. We’ll see if she can … produce something useful.
I’m a native New Yorker (maybe you could tell 
) and I know I voted for republicans regularly including a governor, a senator and mayor. They simply weren’t the hardline pols which is what we seem to have today. They were moderates and not screamers.

I feel confident in predicting that Larry Hogan would have no chance in this Republican party, even if Trump was fully impeached and removed from office, or even if he simply exploded in a burst of lightning from the heavens. Hogan isn’t the nice guy he appears to be in public, but he also isn’t the completely soulless hate monger that the base voters in the Republican party demand.
He got a boost in his first run for governor because people were tired of Martin O’Malley’s two terms and especially his game playing with the casinos, an obvious attempt to set up a funding source for his presidential bid. (Yes, does anyone outside of Maryland remember O’Malley’s run?) Hogan’s second run for governor was helped by sympathy for his bout with cancer, and the common public delusion that it is good to try to balance out the power by having a few representatives of the opposing power to keep the stronger one in check. (Actually, that isn’t an entirely terrible idea; it just never actually seems to work out the way it should.) He won’t have either of those circumstances in his favor for a presidential run, and will probably vanish quickly into the annals of failed candidates.

Weld may be doing the Democrats and the country a huge favor and it’s pretty courageous IMO. I’d love to see donald have to defend his ‘record’, wouldn’t you? A primary challenger could also keep donald’s focus away from the Dem primaries and nominees to a degree couldn’t it? A challenger to donald is a big plus for the USA imo.
Agree that Gary Johnson was a bozo off the charts…and even that tkt should have had Weld at the top. If the guy has no fear and nothing to prove, nothing to loose…I hope that he gets well heard throughout the country!

The House is separate and apart from the senate. It doesn’t matter what we think the senate might do. The House has obligations and must act on them, let the senate wallow in its trump love.
