Hogan Calls RNC âUndemocraticâ For Protecting Trump From A Primary
Who would expect anything other than undemocratic behavior from todayâs GOP
âI donât know what the lay of the land is going to look like this summer, or in the fall.â
Translation: âI have a little side action on Mueller.â
In democratic primary news, Warrenâs child care review.
I like this quote for this and all proposals.
The perfect here is the enemy of the good.
Here Larry. Just drink up. Everything will be all better.
Rethugs better have an open mind about the 2020 election as their boy may not be around to run again.
Love that at least one Rethug has the nerve to at least be talking about this and hope there will be more just to muddy the waters.
Since Hogan is a Republican, shouldnât he be using the term âunDemocratâ?
Typically they try to be fair arbiters of a process
Get McConnell to stop propping up Trump and the entire GOP would change overnight.
Overnight
Larry, forget about it! Just stay in MD and continue the great job youâre doing.
Conversation starter, testing the waters for others, a great thing to do.
I think this may work in democratsâ favor: if trump is going down later in the game, republicans will have to invent a new process for replacing him. Against his resistance. It would be amusing if he were on the ballot but explicitly ineligible to serve.
There has NEVER been ANY proven serious or significant voter fraud
proven in the U S by any Federal or State election officials, including
Stateâs controlled by Republicans like the governor ordered
investigations in Kansas and Wisconsin, none. However, especially in the
Old Confederacy, just this year we have seen nation wide Republican
voter suppression and restriction that has even resulted in the
necessity for a new election in N C. The too much voting democracy tell
for Republicans was clearly stated by Mitch McConnell on the floor of
the Senate. To paraphrase " A voting holiday would be unfair to
Republicans, too many people would vote". How about this Mitch, move the
existing holiday Presidents Day to a warm weather midweek and make it
Americas most important day not just another holiday, National
Presidentâs Voting Day?
Talk is cheap, Larry.
Or as it is said, âBullshit talks and action walks.â
Wow. The too much voting democracy tell for Republicans was clearly stated
by Mitch McConnell on the floor of the Senate. To paraphrase " A voting
holiday would be unfair to Republicans, too many people would vote". How
about this Mitch, move the existing holiday Presidents Day to a warm
weather midweek and make it Americas most important day not just another
holiday, National Presidentâs Voting Day?
Itâs like Hogan doesnât even know what party he belongs to, or what it stands for. Being Anti-Democratic is the GOPâs reason for being.
In all fairness, I think the RNCâs desire to suppress challengers is less about Trump than it is about the high-stakes and extreme risk involved in presidential elections generally.
Itâs no accident that the last 3 presidents have all served 2 terms. Incumbency is a huge, non-transferrable advantage. And, supporting the incumbent eliminates all the problems attendant to getting support to coalesce around a single candidate in the run-up to the general election. As the electorate becomes increasingly polarized, it becomes increasingly chancy that you can win even if you have a great candidate. (And, in all honesty, the GOP hasnât had a great candidate in a long time.)
Both parties recognize this, and both are equally subject to the dynamics that produce this state of affairs. In the context of modern national elections, a 1-term president is an aberration. It has nothing to do with policies, and everything to do with the high-stakes, winner-take-all nature of how we campaign and vote in national elections.
Or in a month. Or in a week.
Was really hoping this was going be Hulk Hoganâs campaign announcement. Now thereâs a chap who could really make inroads against Trump with âDer Baseâ.
âŚand we should be surprised by the Republican Party acting to eliminate democratic procedures wherever they may be? Look at gerrymandering, restrictive voter registration, limiting polling places, reducing the n umber ofvoting machines, cuttng back on early voting and on and on.
That their detain for democratic procedures would seep into their internal processes is a natural spread of there anti-American values and should not come as a surprise.
