Discussion: Hispanic Caucus Demands Meeting With Trump's HHS Over Latino Outreach Fail

Alice, I hope you’re patting yourself on the back over that previous TPM article. This is what journalism should do–reveal problems, encourage people to act, and report on those actions. You do it all the time and you do it very well. I’m so pleased to hear about the Caucus’s actions in this regard.

Speaking of other areas that Donald and his folks try to BS on, check out this staff member having his ass handed to him when he tries to claim Donald has done anything to get he economy going.

Trump: Why are these rapists allowed in US govt? Why can’t Bannon deport them?

Good luck with that. Even if you managed to get Republican members to join in your demand, Trump will never meet with you on this.

This is the problem with modern Democratic party identity politics.

The proper action is to demand a meeting over the failure of outreach to ALL Americans. When they only make noise about their own Latino community it’s a slight to all the other Americans. I’m certain that’s not their intent but that’s how it appears.

Trump’s only interest in the Hispanic caucus is to seek their immediate expulsion from our country.

I’m glad that this group has expressed outrage and demanded a meeting with WH and HHS. At least somebody in the Democratic Party is standing up and speaking out. Where’s the rest of the party…where’s Perez, Ellison, Schumer? What exactly are they waiting for? Open enrollment only a month or two away. The WH has made it very clear with their threats to walk away from the ACA and discourage potential enrollees from enrolling into the plan…and now it appears that they can do this without Congress.

Democrats, left, center, Black, Latino, etc., etc. need to grab the microphone away from the conservatives. They have held onto it for 40 years. It’s time for them to give it up. Conservatives continue to get rewarded for making messes - economic (2008 recession) and foreign (2nd Iraq War). Dems clean up the mess, but forget to take credit.

Too much Reagan. It’s killing us. When we thought we couldn’t fall any lower that ‘W’ along comes Trump.

What’s it going to take? Dems…stop being lawyers. Show some passion and a sense of urgency. Time is Now…Now is the Time!

We understand that anytime its not about young white males, its problem.

No, its really not.

That’s your white privilege bugging you. Deal with it on your own time and get over it.

Perhaps you should change your moniker to jacked_unicorn. It would seem more fitting.

Who stopped some “mainstream” Democrats from talking for ALL Americans? Or “mainstream” Republicans?

The Big Lie that the Democrats are the party of “identity politics” has to stop NOW. The biggest purveyors of “identity politics” has been the GOP, ever since W. helped his Daddy win the presidency by courting the right wing evangelicals, and then Trump courted the white nationalists. That’s deep dyed-in-the-wool "identity politics."

Your comment makes no sense whatsoever. Trump specifically targeted Hispanics to cut them off from getting Obamacare through this outreach program. Why? He hates Mexicans. That is another and very vicious form of “identity politics,” if you really want to know. Your remark is inane and smacks of someone who wants to perpetrate the myth that "white identity politics’ don’t exist.

What Trumpp will hear.

But, that’s okay. You start with Trumpp, At the next step, you can note that you raised the issue with Trumpp and were ignored. The letter documents that.

And Republican identity politics works. ALways.

They are banking on it for 2018.

Gee, that went well.

Congratulations, TPM.

Yikes.

Time to get out of the faith-based partnerships with government, evangelicals. It was a nice ride while it lasted under Bush, but Trump looks at it more … well, conservatively.

Either churches get these funds, or Trump does, and Donald’s got a lot of debt.
