They’ve been doing this for 20 years. If Hillary came out on stage, and just repeated right-wing talking points and called for strong action to defund Planned Parenthood and denounced gay marriage as the work of the devil, they’d still somehow manage to explode.

If the Republican freakshow continues to devolve unabated, Clinton will not only win the Presidency, she will be able to appoint Bill to the SCOTUS.
Hillary Clinton would eat Marco Rubio blood raw!
Bambi Rubio meets Hillzilla’!
I don’t think it will be that difficult. There is no real animosity between the two, and that is always a help. He more or less starting the groundwork last night by defending her on the email thing.
Personally, I don’t think Sanders actually wants the nomination. He just wants to ensure that progressive voices are heard and have influence in the Democratic party. Now if he stated that bluntly, people would be less inclined to support him and he wouldn’t be considered serious enough to warrant that very discussion.
So he has to play the “I am really running” card. But I think if you could get him in a closed room and offer a pinkie swear, he would admit that no, he doesn’t really want to be the Democratic nominee. And yes, he plans on bowing out gracefully and offering his full support to Hillary when she wins the nomination. Or whoever wins.
The media and the Republicans have put such a relentless beat-down on Hillary Clinton, they’ve accidentally made her the underdog at precisely the moment the next big wave of voters start paying attention to the race. This was fairly predictable, and now they’re stuck with “The Comeback Kid II- Hillary”!
Yep. Nate Silver had a pretty good write up on exactly this development and why, today. There were only two possible outcomes for the media…either Hillary continues to descend into chaos, or she is the comeback kid.
Because the reality is much less interesting to write…Hillary is still leading, by a lot.
Agree. I can’t think of a bigger waste of time than plopping down in front of the TV to let my brain go numb watching ANY reality show.
But they are extremely popular (and cheap to produce) and thus they continue to dominate the landscape. So many Americans are attuned to the reality show schtick that they now believe those shows reflect ACTUAL reality and they are bored by anything not hyped up to match the contrived phoniness.
I had a palm-meets-forehead moment at the opening of the debate when CNN had a carnival barker pitch the candidates with exaggerated hoopla and rousing music. So silly. But they know that bread and circuses are what thrill the masses. Fortunately the actual debate was far more interesting and satisfying.
