Discussion for article #239674

For example?

Heh. Josh has an editorial about how the email kerfuffle is a load of nonsense, and then TPM puts “Fact-Checks” in quotes.

Now this is what I call getting in front of an issue. “Heck of a job there…!”

The game show music in the background of the video cracked me up. He should have ended by offering the inaccurate tweeters some Rice-a-Roni, the San Francisco treat.

Hint to the Clinton campaign, don’t fact check via video, nobody’s going to watch it or remember it, but if you tweet text, people can quickly get up to date and share it without spending 3 minutes watching a meandering video.

I’m no Clinton fan, but I thought the video was half-decent. The anecdotal response showing the “classified” document as NON-CLASSIFIED was good. She should get on top of this more often. Remember Bush-era Colin Powell did the same thing and nobody mentions that.

Edit: the recent Reuters claim that all foreign correspondence is immediately classified is insane. That means that any of my foreign correspondence with my mates around the world is immediately classified also, even if we just be shooting the breeze (if I happen to be employed by the gov’t). This surely is a witch hunt, the likes we haven’t seen since… Benghazi!

Seriously, what’s next – firing up the old fax machine to respond to claims made on Facebook?

Didn’t find it meandering myself; a very crisp and fact-rich 2:37, actually. Sending it out to some folks I know who aren’t on Twitter. (Which is most folks, btw.) More, please, Clinton team.

…adding, I would assume (hope!) they have been answering the specific tweets directly in addition to the video.

Yeah, wish this video was on her website and on YouTube. It could easily be embedded on her website with the full social media share buttons and salient text passages and links to the document(s) mentioned, etc.

So you’re appealing to the twitter generation?

Hey, they can certainly vote for republicans.

We old people will vote despite the frenzy on Twitter.

I just sent a message on her website to that effect. They need to put her speeches on there, too – she’s had some good ones already. They’ve got some stuff on the website and the YouTube account, but somebody’s really not thinking…

No, that’s not what it says. It says:
http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/08/21/us-usa-election-clinton-emails-idUSKCN0QQ0BW20150821
“In the small fraction of emails made public so far, Reuters has found at least 30 email threads from 2009, representing scores of individual emails, that include what the State Department’s own “Classified” stamps now identify as so-called ‘foreign government information.’ The U.S. government defines this as any information, written or spoken, provided in confidence to U.S. officials by their foreign counterparts.
This sort of information, which the department says Clinton both sent and received in her emails, is the only kind that must be “presumed” classified, in part to protect national security and the integrity of diplomatic interactions, according to U.S. regulations examined by Reuters.”

Now I am NOT by any means saying this is a huge deal at this point, especially if the correspondence was casual (they don’t say what the government defines as “information” in that article). I am only posting to clarify that Reuter’s did not say all foreign correspondence by anyone is automatically classified.

There is nothing to this scandal, at all. It will go away, because the deeper you dig the less you will find. If you want to attack Hillary Clinton, my friends, I suggest a different tactic. Can you imagine what would happen if Trump starting talking more about the Police harassing the Blacks? “I want the worlds classiest police force.” And prison reform, “we need our prisons to be beautiful.” It would be a bizarre flanking of Hillary.

Just a horrible horrible thought.

Quite possible, but don’t you agree NOW is the time to find that out? She brought this on herself by being dumb with her email (no way that escapes investigation), so let’s get this over with so by the time the general election starts, it’s “old news”. And if she is running against Jeb, then her people can say “hey, Hillary’s email thing was cleared up, how about if we have a look at Jeb’s when he was governor, because it appears he definitely was not in compliance”.

Timing. Get her stuff out of the way before the general election. And if there happens to be a real scandal (though I doubt it), it’s also best to find that out NOW so we can start promoting other candidates.

That was good.

It is as impossible to “clear this up” as it was to clear up Obama’s birth certificate and Benghazi. No doubt there will be congressional hearings about the stupid email server going on for the next 8 years.

Most centrist voters know the Birth Certificate and Benghazi are BS, and the people who believe those things would never have voted Dem anyway. But the email thing is still active. Keep in mind the FBI was not doing criminal investigations on the Birth Certificate or Benghazi. They are on this. And when complete, if no wrongdoing is found, sensible centrist voters will know it was BS, and she can get their support back. Yes, the “nuts” will keep talking about it for years, but they never vote Dem anyway.

Colin Powell did not do the same thing. Powell used a non-State Department email account but it wasn’t a private server that he maintained complete control of with the ability to wipe it clean if necessary.

Yeah, he just was one of the major liars on the Bush lying team that lied us into war.
A real Marine would be more concerned with that and not be using a man that defied his military oath as his crutch.

Trying to turn everything into a Democrat/Hillary scandal and mentally blocking out what it means to be a Republican is weak upon lame. When you take responsibility for the deaths, massive financial depression and ISIL, then you can move on to conspiracy apropos of nothing.

Your conspiracy is based on conspiracy that circles back to conspiracy. IOW, you’ve got nothing and that is an awful reflection of you just for playing.
