Discussion: Hillary Clinton Wins Popular Vote By Nearly 2.9 Million

Pfft. That’s only if you count New York and California.

Fun Fact: A vote in Wyoming has 3.6 times more voting power than a vote in California .

“Hillary Clinton received nearly 2.9 million more votes than President-elect Donald Trump.”

Bumper sticker for the next four years:

“Don’t blame me; I voted with the majority.”

The best voting system an 18th century, agrarian system based on slavery could come up with. Exceptional! (in the OTHER sense of the word)

Kudos, Hilz.
However I want a trigger warning on these stories as it reactivates my election PTSD.

She can claim 5 million votes as long as I don’t ever have to hear her voice again. Or Bill’s. What a fucking train wreck these two turned out to be.

Last I checked there were 538 electors. The article says the final EC tally was 304 to 227, where did the missing gang of 7 electors go, out for a drink?

So Hillary was a very popular first runner-up. Let that be the proud finish to the Clinton political memory. However, our party must immediately put aside its debilitating, quarter-century, Clinton enthrallment and fight to regain its pre-1994 hegemony in state and national politics.

Our present national crisis is the most acute since 1930. Our present world climate crisis is the most acute since the end of the last ice age. The time to hesitate is through!

Voted for others.

Honestly, it’s just a relief to see her smiling face. We share the wound, because we know the treachery, the injustice we suffer together.

The train wreck was Sander’s inflation, the fake news spread by social media and the mainline news, the interference of Putin’s boys and the treachery of the FBI, the courts, certain judges, etc. But never mind. Because you won’t.

I must say, you do have all the talking point excuses down pat.

‘Sander’s inflation’? That’s a new one for me.

Almost funny if you think about it…

The electoral college exists so that some charismatic buffoon wouldn’t win the popular vote and drive the country to ruin.

But in practice, the people didn’t elect the buffoon, yet the electoral college chose him anyway.

Can we now just admit that the modern day purpose of the EC is to prevent dems from getting elected?

You make a fair point but remember the Dems were always comfortable having the big states’ EV’s , on both coasts, in their pocket. But here we are. LOL!

I accepted the loss on Election Day but have grown more and more despondent since. I’ve already deleted most of my bookmarked political sites. The urge to be apolitical is strong.

Train wreck ?? Your conclusion is based on what comparison ?? It is laughable if your comparison is to Rump and all his minions.

Try to get off the tracks when Rump’s train steams out of DC because we “ain’t seen train wreck yet”.

For the Nth friggin’ time–
SO WHAT?
It matters about as much as Tilden beating Hayes in1876 will matter when you-know-what takes the Oath of Office on January 20, 2017.
The Constitution says that The ELECTORAL COLLEGE matters, The Popular vote DOES NOT.
All the people spilling all this milk about the popular vote ought to get themselves up and work to AMEND the Constitution, over the opposition of a Congress where BOTH PARTIES have NO INTENTION of changing anything. As long as that same system works for both of them, that is.
