Why does this story make Trump seem refreshing?

I forget. Where exactly are we now on all of this? Hillary email-gate Benghazi stand-down order contained on Hillary’s private server because birth certificate Benghazi Shillary and Shillary Benghazi Benghazi-gate death panel OMG IT’S THE SMOKING GUN!!! I SWEAR THIS TIME???

Something like that?

I’d say it’s because Trump’s antics are at least entertaining, whereas–legitimate or not–there always seems to be some “scandal” surrounding Hillary and/or Bill Clinton.

I am glad she is doing it but why didn’t she do it earlier on to avoid all the shit in between which dragged her reputation down. This was handled badly., I sure wish she would hire Obama’s campaign staff.

McClatchy reported earlier Tuesday that the inspector general for the intelligence community had notified top members of Congress about two emails found on Clinton’s server that contained “top secret” material – more sensitive than was previously known.

Dear TPM, this is grossly misleading reporting. The same IG report you speak of actually recommended a reclassification of two documents to “top secret” that were forwarded to Hillary without a classified designation.

The Chicago Tribune reported yesterday

US Official: FBI Has Hillary Clinton Emails From Home Server

I couldn’t agree more. I’m really surprised at her handling of this – given her background and experience, I thought she would be one step ahead … but it all makes me think she’s probably hiding something. If so, not good.

Boring. Let me know when Hillary dons a slinky red dress, becomes the Gatekeeper, and then she and Keymaster Bill turn into devil dogs.

Exactly. The State Dept reiterated yesterday that none of this material was classified at the time… it was not marked confidential, let alone top secret, and circulated on non-secured servers. In fact, State still doesn’t think it’s classified info (a classic turf war between Intelligence and State… and nothing intrinsically to do with Clinton).

It’s the House GOP and their tame Intelligence IG who are saying it should now be marked top secret… and the media lazily says “she had top secret documents on her server!” Despite the scare headlines, even many of the media stories had this fact right in the body of the article.

In other words, this is another GOP manufactured load of crap that the media is gleefully hyping.

Yes, she should have turned the server over in March and headed some of this off… but that doesn’t excuse the “narrative driven” media distortion, or their happy willingness to pass on GOP propaganda as fact.

Agree with previous that she should’ve done this earlier. It was a stupid move by a stupid team that should be fired for its poor handling of the situation.

As it stands now, the delay only makes it look like she might’ve called in some professional to scrub these items out of the server/thumb drive.

Glad she did it now and not a year from now, but I suspect (as with all the previous ‘scandals’) that even a clean bill of health from the IG and any other agencies will be met with collusion accusations from the opposition. This won’t stop anything in the long run.

That said, if there were questionable e-mails sent out, wouldn’t the possible recipients be able to help the opposition in its quest for these e-mails? It’s not like she only sent them to herself.

I don;t believe for a minute she’s hiding anything because if she were, she wouldn’t be turning it over. It is just a bungling on her part. She did this in the 2008 campaign too,

Doesn’t this site just piss you off. It does me. I am so sick of the misleading shit stories about her. If we can’t get straight reporting from a so-called liberal website, where can we.

That’s what I heard. There were documents FORWARDED to Clinton. Hilary says she SENT no classified documents; opposition wants to twist that to include transactions in both directions.
And as you mention, making something classified after the fact doesn’t make it so at the time.

I am glad she is doing it but why didn’t she do it earlier

So far as I know, Hilary followed the law at the time. Just because some government person asks you for something doesn’t make you obligated to comply.

This is meant as a genuine question, not a snark or a challenge; but, just what is, or what is the nature of, that which you think she is hiding?

Perhaps inadvertently you are playing by “Clinton Rules”

  1. Everything, no matter how ludicrous-sounding, is worthy of a full investigation by federal agencies, Congress, the “vast right-wing conspiracy,” and mainstream media outlets
  2. Every allegation, no matter how ludicrous, is believable until it can be proven completely and utterly false. And even then, it keeps a life of its own in the conservative media world.
  3. The media assumes that Clinton is acting in bad faith until there’s hard evidence otherwise.
  4. Everything is newsworthy because the Clintons are the equivalent of America’s royal family
  5. Everything she does is fake and calculated for maximum political benefit

Inevitable doesn’t bungle…
As I’ve said, HRC’s measured sounds like JEB’s measured.

I hope it is just a bungling on her campaign’s part. I’m leaning toward that because, as you say: she wouldn’t be turning it all over if there was something in there – but her bungling just leads her opponents to claim she somehow removed “evidence” that would incriminate her in whatever their bitch topic might be that day. I sincerely hope she learns from this and gets her act together from here on out.

I wouldn’t say “pissed” so much as “occasionally annoyed”. There will be times where, in the rush of getting out “breaking news”, articles here will simply be a regurgitation of other agencies’ articles without any sort of research or review of the validity of said article – especially if it fits a current narrative.

This is why Hillary is toast, buttered up and covered with sticky jam. She could have avoided all of this.

Now the GOP will be playing video of Hillary stating ““I believe I have met all of my responsibilities, and the server will remain private.”

Next will be the demands to recover the deleted emails under the guise of searching for more classified material. Investigators will either find and give the materials to Gowdy and Grassley or they will find out they have been completely wiped. If the deleted emails were professionally “wiped” and are truly lost then it will appear Hillary really was hiding something. Both scenarios are bad.

This is not the same as what happened to Bill Clinton. Americans rallied to him because they had elected him and the hounding over sex was ugly.

Hillary is running for office and it is much easier for people to say “I don’t need this headache” and simply walk away from a recurring case of Clinton fatigue.

Watch those trustworthy numbers crumble now.
