Discussion for article #241154
These suggestions are so good, I just want to read them again and again!
I don’t think an interview with one of the poster children for privilege and racial obliviousness is where you want to demonstrate to Black voters that you understand systemic racism.

The last paragraph is a repeat of the second.
This is a good piece. A really nice change of pace from the endless string of meaningless email stories. How did you get it past the editor?
It was a multi-question interview. This was just one of the questions she was asked. What was she supposed to do, say “I’m sorry, but I don’t want to talk to you about that because you are a poster child for privilege and racial obliviousness?”
Who is the poster child of racial obliviousness? Clinton. Well, I don’t think so.
Dunham is one of the most popular women in today’s media, and so where better to go to put some positions on record. This is a very savvy move, and part of why Emily’s List is so firmly behind HRC. Her remarks on race are a small part of a fairly long interview, read the whole thing,

Yeah, but really that and her response on college tuition debt are the only meaningful pieces of the interview. The rest is pretty much just “what was it like growing up as Hillary?” sort of stuff.
Sometimes these interviews or in this case a conversation between two prominent women, light as they may be, seem to be compelling to other women. We often like the backstory.
There’s a whole bunch of young folks who want to know about Hillary–including her younger days. Nothing wrong with that. Nice refresher for the elders too.
Funny you should mention this.

Obsessive/Compulsive much?
I am so sorry allow me to rephrase: Dunham is one of the poster children for privilege and racial obliviousness. She is exactly the kind of person Clinton should do a multi-question interview with. Dunham’s proven awareness of systemic racism is exactly the type of thing Clinton should associate with. Maybe Clinton and Dunham should do it again right before going into the SC primary. Between that, the inevitable dredging up of Clinton’s past stances on crime, welfare and the antics of her supporters during the 2008 campaign as well as BLM making sure everyone talks this it I am sure Black voters will choose her.
Well, here’s the thing. She can’t win either the primary or the general without black votes, but she can’t win with only black votes.
Your interpretation of what I said is not even close. It smells vaguely like 2007 era binary thinking.
