Discussion for article #230418
I agree with her on this one, and for that matter on many of her stated positions. But I don’t trust her one bit, I think she’d say pretty much anything to get elected. The really sad part is that she’ll probably be the nominee and I’ll still have to vote for her over any of the contenders the Republicans have floated so far. Ugh.
He just handed her a huge issue to run on, especially now that Congress will almost certainly do nothing about immigration, and the GOP candidate will almost certainly be forced to declare that he will undo this EO.
Agreed. And that’s precisely why her immediate and incontestable statement of support for the EO is important–staking out the high ground for the '16 pro/anti immigration battles. This is strategically and philosophically encouraging.
I would have preferred her to say that this issue has her full support.
Meh. I’m no fan of Hillary (see above) but it didn’t come across as arrogant to me, and the casual tone is just how things are done on Twitter.
[Edit: I guess you edited your comment before I finished writing my reply].
She must have had a kid type it.
I did, sorry about that. I wouldn’t have changed it if I had seen your reply first.
JFTR, I stated that I found the comment odd for the professional relationship she had with Obama, it was too casual. And, a bit arrogant for thanking him as if he had done her a favor, and a bit pushy for the onward with bipartisan work.
Maybe she’s trying to reach a younger crowd?
I changed the comment because that seems over analytical, and probably colored with my annoyance on her campaign. I’d like to see her talk about working to support Americans, but there’s a sense of entitlement that comes from her campaign that rubs me the wrong way. It’s the way she pushed out any one else who might want to run. It’s the king making for the past few years. It’s the polling for what she should do or say, rather than leading with a vision the way Obama did. I read that entitlement in the thank you. Probably projection on my part.
I think you should demand an investigation of possible child labor law violations!
No sweat. But thanks for confirming that I wasn’t hallucinating…it’s been known to happen.
Ahh, a visionary!
That’s what I tried to tell the nice men in the white coats!
They’re coming to take me away! Hahahoho… Republicans will drive us all to the point. Let’s hope that Hillary finds a way to rally and inspire the progressives and young adults.
In her defense, she can’ actually “do” anything until she gets elected.
But they’ve already thought this through on the Republican side. They will claim they cant pass a bill because they don’t trust Obama to enforce it. Bank on it.
Will people buy it? Many will. Certainly the Republican base is already there. But I would argue, the meme has taken hold with the majority of the public. Obama isn’t trustworthy. http://cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/gallup-majority-says-obama-not-honest-and-trustworthy
This is no accident. This has been the consistent theme since Obama promised us we could keep our health plans. Of course, this is just the latest (if not most effective) means used to delegitimize Obama.
Of course, Obama knows this, so by taking this action, he is clearly forcing confrontation with the GOP. Perhaps his calculation is precisely the one Josh pointed out recently. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/reaping-the-whirlwind--5 Certainly, Hillary’s foray into the mix supports that theory.
What’s the next move, is the more interesting part. The GOP almost has to impeach now. Their base will be clamoring for it. Fox News will stir the pot. Their rhetoric seems to support this as well (“lawless, unconstitutional, king, emperor”). Will that work as a political strategy? They know the Senate won’t convict, so going in they are banking on it working. And it might. You would think they learned a lesson from the Clinton impeachment, but Clinton’s impeachment was different. He had very high approval ratings at the time. Republicans know this, too. I would put my money on an impeachment committee in the House by the end of January.
what was so wrong with the Clinton years? Even the Clinton’s are politicians. So whats you rpoint? Every single politician will say something to get votes, but its what they actually do when they get there that matters. The first gentleman would be a great adviser in this case. Its a rare chance that we need to take advantage of.
Listen, I understand. A load of shit is a load of shit.
In 140 characters she had to hit the high points of her message, but one could reasonably infer he has her full support.
I’m sure she had her twitterer poised and ready to go. She’d be a fool to miss the opportunity and an even bigger fool to say anything negative.
She just did the smart thing.
Good solid twitter comment. It does the job. I’m all for Hil 2016 but somehow I get the feeling Warren will be POTUS. Maybe Hil can be VP.
