Wow, terrible non-apology.

I know she’s not really in hard core campaign mode yet, but I’m really feeling like she’s going to Romney this up.

When asked if she wanted to apologize to the American people for the email server snafu embroiling her campaign for President, Hillary Clinton said simply she regretted it had been “confusing.”

Sounds like a big “no” to me.

One thing I find confusing about email is why I still have to “CC” when nobody uses carbon copies in the real world anymore.

If she’s keeping up this attitude due to being “advised” to do it, she’s not being well served. To say that it comes across as arrogant is really an understatement.

Here’s my main problem with Hillary. She doesn’t hear herself when she spouts nonsense like this. Setting up your own server, rather than using the government provided server, demonstrates conclusively that you DID think about it, a lot. So why does an otherwise articulate and thoughtful politician say something as baldly mendacious as this? I can only figure that she does it reflexively and can no longer see the difference between bullshit and the truth. Even if her impulses are right, she makes me wary. I will work my ass off for her if she’s nominated, unless by some miracle the Republicans put up Bernie, but I will always be a little wary.

Why should she offer a major “apology” for something so ludicrously overhyped? She said it was a mistake… how has she harmed anyone that she needs to grovel for forgiveness? This whole story is media-manufactured drivel. Rice and Powell both used private emails… sure, they didn’t own the servers… but they also didn’t hand over the actual emails as Clinton has. Which is more important? Bush and Walker both DID use privately owned servers. Walker’s have been involved in several lurking corruption issues, and Bush violated Florida law by a) waiting years to hand anything over, and b) not handing over everything. Where are his messages with his then Sec of State over the 2000 Florida “recount”?

Why exactly does Clinton need to “apologize,” but none of these others do?

Face it: any response she gives will be dismissed as evasive, arrogant, or inadequate, because the supposed “scandal” lacks solid substance to actually address.

Oh, FFS. I’d rather hear Andrea Mitchell and the rest of the villagers apologize to the American people for chasing us all down this rabbit hole over and over again. What exactly about the whole email server nothingburger does Andrea imagine calls for an apology? Like all the phoney, fake scandals that preceded this one, the whole email affair is a tissue-thin, press driven, “questions swirl” nonstory that so-called thoughtful reporters can’t explain and refuse to even try.

As long as we have a press that can’t explain the simplest facts of a story, we will live in a grossly misinformed society.

It’s the “there must be a real scandal in here somewhere if we we keep picking at this non-story” approach to the Clintons that dates back to 1993 at least. I say this as not the biggest Bill or Hillary fan. All this does is make the most misinformed in the public - a huge swath - to go, well I don’t understand it but she must be hiding something because the press keeps suggesting she is, so I guess she’s not trustworthy.

Out of curiosity, and admittedly not having watched the interview myself, did Ms. Mitchell ask Sec. Clinton any policy questions or was the entire interview about emails and The Donald?

Nothing she could say would satisfy the Very Serious Pundits ™.

If she gave a cringing “apology,” they’d declare it proof that the “scandal” is unbelievably serious and she’s “desperately” trying to survive it. If she treats it as a less-than-earth-shaking issue, she’s “arrogant” and “evasive.”

Then the pundits muse on how the “scandal” just won’t go away – as if that is somehow separate from the fact that it won’t go away because they never stop talking about it.

The only comfort is: I really do not believe that, over a year from now in the midst of a full-on presidential campaign against any of the GOP clowns and their extreme ideas, voters who aren’t already committed Hillary-haters are going to be saying “Yeah, but her emails are the real issue!”

She shouldn’t have apologized; but if she did in fact use the words “I’m sorry” she should have done it differently. Unfair but true.

The press points out the “drip, drip, drip” with respect to Hillary and her emails but always neglects to point out that it is they, the press, themselves who are supplying the water.
