Discussion for article #226455

Pick Castro and you’ll win like Reagan did.

Fuck this 2016 talk, let’s at least get through the 2014 midterms first. Hillary already had one round of putting the cart before the horse, let’s not do that again

If she runs, her only VP choice will be Sen. Brown from Ohio.

Since McCain is too old now, I’ll betting she’ll pick his little sidekick Lindsay.

I don’t know…I’d like to see HRC start exercising a little deftness and a tad less of Big Dog’s post presidential game, set and match eagerness over the Mrs in the Oval…A little less of the Ferguson police MRAP heavy-handedness with the tattered remnants of our political system perhaps?

I suspect they’re keeping him close for two reasons

  1. They’re afraid they could get Barack-ed by Castro in 2016.
  2. He’d be an excellent choice for a Veep.

Alternate headline: Clinton Has Dinner

There is No. Way. a Democratic presidential ticket includes the name Castro.

I have said that many times, the Castro brothers would be formidable. They are super smart, charismatic, successful and of Mexican ancestry, the largest latino group in the USA (over 35 million), followed by Puerto Ricans in the USA at ~4 million.

I didn’t think the Democrats would ever run somebody named “Barack Hussein Obama.” “Castro” is mild by comparison. By all accounts Julian Castro is a big part of the future of the Democratic party.

That’s sort of what I thought that a washed-up actor famous for Bedtime For Bonzo would, could ever be elected President.

May I suggest he change his name to Julian Reaganwasaprick?

Another reason not to vote for a goddamned lying sack of shit Clinton, whatever the gender. Madame Warhawk-in-Waiting can go to hell.

Castro on the ticket? I can hear the GOP shrieks, now.
“Castro? Not Hussein? Not bin Laden? OMG!”

You know what I would love to see?

After the smoke clears a bit around the current situation in Ferguson…having Castro as the Housing Secretary meet with Johnson and put together and work though some plans for dealing with the many issues that this incident has exposed to the nation.

Want to really scare the crap out of the Powers That Be in both parties? There is the path.

Oh, and look at you now with your first answer. Someones twinkle is definitely getting brighter.

Need to catch up with the times. Castro is most definitely a bright and rising star for the national party. His name is not going to be any issue for the voters or the Democratic party.

The real question rumbling around, at least in my head, is why just aim for the VP slot? A presidential run of his own has huge upsides for him and very little down side. Even if he doesn’t win, the exposure on the national stage and the chance to campaign across the country can only improve his acumen.

I suspect that was a big part of what this dinner was, too. A chance for the Clinton’s to feel him out a bit and find out what his plans are for 2016.

Agree on all points – but I don’t think they should hitch themselves to the Clinton machine. They need to play a much longer strategery.

Castro turns Texas blue; I guarantee it.
