President Donald Trump’s engagement with Latinos has been complicated.
That is Birdie-worthy.
@rascal_crone
So-called president Trump’s engagement with the arts has been non-existant. I seriously doubt that he knows what “art” means, unless he sees it in a comic book.
"President Donald Trump’s engagement with Latinos has been complicated. "
Polite and possibly too-deferential characterization immediately shown to be in itself over-complicated as facts of Trump’s behavior are related in subsequent paragraphs.
There’s nothing remotely complicated about Trump’s treatment of Latinos.
The more we learn of human cognition, the more we understand how fraught with peril is the journalist’s job. Words matter to our simple little brains.
[That being said, I just made sure TPM auto-renew is on. We’re looking at a part of the future of journalism here, after all. Existence is the first and best virtue.]

In a statement, Aguirre said she looks forward to “continuing to advance the President’s agenda in support of American communities through the National Endowment for the Arts which provides support to nonprofit cultural institutions nationwide.”
Send more Prilosec.
White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said Thursday that Aguirre was taking up a new position as director for strategic communications and public affairs at the National Endowment for the Arts.
Well, it looks like Trump is going to have to get very serious about eliminating funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.
So, not leaving the administration, just the shithouse. Still willing to take tax dollars to shill for people who Want. Them. Dead.

[/quote]It’s a temp job. Her primary strategic communication responsibility will be to periodically announce, “Yes. The National Endowment for the Arts does still exist … as of this moment.”
ETA: I kind of thought they’d already de-funded and gotten rid of NEA. So, this is a good news story both for Ms. Aguirre and the NEA.
You’re going to have a hard time topping “Many soldiers enjoy spending Christmas with their families”.
What a crock.
This President doesn’t support most American communities, couldn’t care less about the arts, except maybe people painting his portrait, and is at best indifferent to nonprofit cultural institutions nationwide.
“…she looks forward to “continuing to advance the President’s agenda in support of American communities through the National Endowment for the Arts which provides support to nonprofit cultural institutions nationwide.””
And her first assignment will be to ensure that all non-profit fundraisers are held at Trump properties and Taco Tuesdays are incorporated into all NEA-supported institutions lunch menus.
