Discussion: Hicks' White House Departure Was Reportedly A Longtime In The Making

As a unit of measure, a ā€œlongtimeā€ is approximately 4.25 Scaramuccis.

Legal jeopardy has a way of stressing people.

Trump’s departure from the White House is also a long time in the making.

But it’s getting closer!

I suppose we should be grateful TPM didn’t write ā€œalong timeā€ …

There can’t be anyone in the WH who isn’t thinking of an escape plan. Working in the WH would be a meat grinder in a sane administration, and this one would be brutal–I’m not saying that I feel sorry for them but how could you stay?
We’ll hear more soon.

ā€œThis was a case of, ā€˜I’m done. Physically. Emotionally. Just drained,ā€™ā€ the friend told Politico.

I imagine that physical and emotional draining was amped up about the time she got that first call from the FBI.

ā€œBoth CBS News and CNN reported that Trump was angry with Hicks for acknowledging the white lies and that he made that known to his communications director, though the White House denied the CNN report that Trump berated Hicks over her testimony.ā€

Confirmed - he berated her. ā€œTrump does not tell ā€˜white lies’ or have anyone tell ā€˜white lies’ for me. I tell huge lies, outrageous lies, in-your-face lies, the big easily-disprovable lies. Do NOT minimize my lie-telling or the lie-telling of my administration.ā€

So she was thinking of leaving even BEFORE she took up this latest job ?

I can understand not wanting to still be a member of the White House staff when you emerge as a key witness for the Special Prosecutor.

Yeah, you are looking a bit peaked for an on-staff geisha these days.

Actually I’m deeply concerned that she’ll now have enough time on her hands to let her plastic surgery habit spiral out of control. Woman’s about 1.63 nose jobs away from Voldemort status.

"Long time, " not ā€œlongtime.ā€ You guys need a proofreader.

Two pathological liars walk in to a bar.
One says to the other: ā€œYou’re fired.ā€
ā€œFor what?ā€
ā€œFor doing your job.ā€
ā€œLiar.ā€
You’re right - you’re not fired."
A year later, the same two pathological liars walk in to the same bar.
One says to the other: ā€œYou’re doing a great job.ā€
ā€œI resigned today.ā€
ā€œBut you’ve been doing a great job.ā€
ā€œLiar.ā€

Maybe she was concerned that there were no more abusive males on the White House staff to hook up with after Porter left.

TPM achieves Guarniad-level copy editing. Huzzah!

(Pedant alert for curious mods/TPM-ers: ā€œlongtimeā€ is an adjective, e.g. ā€œTrump’s longtime aide Hope Hicksā€ What you mean is ā€œa long timeā€.)

This must be true because by Occam’s Hammer when several people say the same thing it must be true and several people have said the same thing and several TV stations have said the same thing too.

So the WH is in turmoil over this resignation and all the other shiznit going on. Good.

If Hicks cooperates with Mueller maybe that’s enough to create a final psychotic break and we gleefully watch this (mal)administration enter its final death spiral, caveat being hopefully it doesn’t take the rest of world with it.

Still awaiting the insane-o-crazed tweet storms from hair fuehrer.

One misuse? Okay, so in the headline.
