Those young and healthy will learn when they go for knee surgery.
This is a good write-up. But I would have added the following at the end of this paragraph:
“On a call with reporters on Tuesday, CMS Administrator Seema Verma spent several minutes painting the Affordable Care Act as a disaster, pointing to rising insurance premiums, the many states and counties that have only one insurer, and the 28 million people who remain uninsured—though all of these problems existed prior to the ACA, and the policy announced today will likely make each of these problems, especially the rising premiums, worse.”
Unbelievable.
We need the Short Presidential Term activated ASAP
as in the 25th Amendment.
insisted that shift will not significantly impact premiums for the people who remain because they need comprehensive insurance.
That they need coverage is a reason for insurers to increase premiums not keep them stable.
Seema Verma is setting herself up for lucrative private contracts for when she gets out of the administration. She’s a grifter like all the rest of Trump’s appointees (DeVos, Mnuchin, Ross, Tillerson, Flynn, Jarvanka, etc.) and his takedown cannot come too soon. Hurry up, Mueller!
Republican’ts run on a platform of, “Government is broken!” Then they get elected and break it…
Alas, this is Republican policy all the way down. Trump’s departure will change the daily news feed, but Operation Alberich will proceed unhindered.
It was a tongue and cheek statement.
What I wanted to type would have created red flags, 100’s of them
Seema Verma is easily as despicable as any of Trump’s appointees.
She’s verminous.
I was going to call her Seemsa Vermin but FINE you got dibs. Gotta work on my buzzer game obvs.
“There are healthy people sitting on the sidelines without coverage,”
…and we want to get them into the game without coverage…
This is probably bad policy, but it just is not true that it guts the Obamacare markets. The key to those markets is the statutorily mandated and indexed financial assistance provisions to cover premiums. So long as that stays in place, anyone who wants health indurance and is eligible for financial assistance will get it.That’s millions of working Americans - and their families - whose employers don’t provide health insurance. As to the insurers, they are well skilled in setting premiums that fit the market.
There is a big difference between the listed premiums and the premiums that policyholders actually pay. What they pay is heavily subsidized for 85 - 90% of Obamacare markertplace participants. It’s like hotel room rates. There are the rack rates, which no one pays. And there are the real rates.
She has the right nose for success as a sychophant. Or psychophant. Or both…
So I wonder what those “prominent” displays of what isn’t covered are going to look like once the policies start getting sold. Watch for the full-page pictures of women with babies and a tiny little asterisk linking to 5-point type: “Policy does not cover maternity or perinatal care. Offspring cannot be added to policy.”
Yeah, that ain’t holding up in court.
Really impossible to tell where the ignorance, stupidity, delusion, and deliberate sabotage begin and end with these shitstains.
I’ll take sabotage for $200, Alex.
Another Trump scam.
Like Trump U.
There should be a disclaimed with every policy - “this is a scam - SUCKER” !!!
Vermin is quickly rising in the Pantheon of Republican Scum in the Trumpanzee Administration. I hope Mueller gets he even if it’s only for double parking while whoring.
