Discussion: Heritage Greases Shutdown Wheels: 'No Blank Check For Amnesty'

Discussion for article #230179

Boehner’s puppet masters have spoken. I wonder whether Demint and the handlers at Heritage can jerk Boehner’s tears and make him cry at will. The orange drunk has seemed more angry, bizarre and mentally unbalanced and emotionally unhinged lately.

As predicted the GOP is gearing up for the stupid trifecta. Adamantly demand all brown/yellow people be expelled from the US, shut down the government in rage and then impeach the President. If lucky they will find the time to gut the ACA and charge Hilary Clinton with the “murders” in Benghazi.

Republicans in full tilt crazy is something to behold. Proceed…

But they always fail to inform the public that a bill from congress on immigration would supersede Obama’s executive action on said subject.
They cry, amnesty, job killer, crime wave, desease wave etc etc but never with the facts.
Bonehead already knows this is going through and any congressional bill will never pass the smell test, aka, the veto pen

Since the election is over, we don’t need to worry about ISIS chucking Ebola-ridden bodies at us, so it’s back to business as usual- impeaching Obama, repealing ACA, and generally looking foolish to the rest of the world.

The leaders may not want a shut down but there’s a bunch of wackos in the House who do…any excuse would do. ANYTHING to screw up anything Obama might want to do. No matter how useful or important or even if it’s something dear to the heart of traditional republicans. It does NOT matter.
There are plaenty of republicans who would like nothing better than to do serious damage to the country if it means damage to democrats. That is how they think. I’m not making this up. I wish I were and for humor’s sake. To show what I mean here’s a quote in context from Rush Limbaugh:

“It is to stop Barack Obama. It is to stop the Democrats,” Limbaugh said on his show Wednesday about Republicans’ agenda. “There is no other reason why Republicans were elected yesterday. Republicans were not elected to govern.”

“How can you govern with a president that is demonstrably lawless when he thinks he has to be?” Limbaugh continued. “The Republican Party was not elected to fix a broken system or to make it work. The Republican Party was not elected to compromise. The Republican Party was not elected to sit down and work together with the Democrats.”

Like I said, I wish I were making this crap up.

There are a lot of Republican House members who take Rush as Gospel truth.

10 days after election?

Let’s see…

November 23, 2012: Still trying to repeal the ACA, still demanding tax cuts for the wealthy, still insisting that Medicare and Medicaid and SS should be privatized, etc. etc. etc.

Yep, elections have consequences…but only when the GOPers/Teatrolls win apparently. The ones they lose just don’t count.

What the repubs(small R) seem not to understand Boehner is already suing the President for being President. They (repubs) have already shown what they are about and overplayed their hand, that’s why they have no coordinated message,IMHO.

The GOP won’t shut down the government, as McConnell has repeatedly said won’t happen.

They just won’t FUND the government! See? Completely different!

And all Obama’s fault, of course!

Who can’t run again, so who do the Repubs blame in 2016?

As other’s have stated: Keep on fucking that chicken Republicans!

Exactly. Establishment Republicans know shutting down the government, impeaching the President etc are horrible plans and will further damage the GOP brand, but the crazy runs things in the Republican party.

Can they retroactive impeach Reagan, then?

I really don’t understand why Harry Reid or any other Democrat would ask the President to wait.

They will impeach, shut down the government, default on the debt, kick and scream, hold their breathe until they turn blue, refuse to eat their peas and carrots and then sit in the middle of the road and cry. Or at least threaten too.

Lets get the party started. At this point, I’m not sure they will do any of it. It’s a win-win. (1) They don’t do any of it. In which case the Democrats can just laugh in their face, and taunt them. (2) They do the Shutdown and Impeachment (they won’t default on the debt. If they were serious about that, they would have already done it.) and their ratings go straight into the toilet.

The last six years should have proven to the Democrats, their unbridled hatred prevents any cooperation.

I get the feeling Obama has had it, and is ready to go to the mattresses with these fucks.

Bring it on. There are no more Democrats to protect, they have lost their majorities.

I’m tired of the threats, they are old and stale. Just like their base.

If DeMint wants it Cruz will make it happen. DeMint HATES McConnell and will burn the party down to hurt him.

Let them force a shutdown. Then Obama declares a state of national emergency and bypasses them entirely.

Not a blank check, not amnesty; next?

Exactly. They’ll send funding bills to Obama that they know he can’t sign and then blame the standoff on him. It didn’t work the last time they tried it, but they’ve had a year’s worth more time to vilify Obama since the last time they shut down the government, so maybe the public will buy the Republicans’ blame game this time.

The administration needs to take any confrontational executive action it plans now, during the lame duck session, to blunt the R shutdown weapon. It would be much harder for the Rs to exert pressure months after such executive actions, to reverse them, than it will be after the Rs control both chambers. You can expect them to put the CRs on a monthly basis, in order to keep the shutdown threat always ready for use. But they will do that precisely because months later is too late for the weapon to have any effect.
