Discussion: Heritage Action Urges Members To Vote 'NO' On GOP O'Care Repeal Bill

It really is amazing. The republicans been all “death panels” for years about the ACA, talking falsely about all the people hurt by it. But now 24 million Americans’ best hope for keeping their health care is a bunch of wild-eyed monsters upset that the replacement bill won’t kill enough people.

No irony here - since Heritage came up with the Romneycare precursor and many (most) of the basic ideas for Obamacare.

Back in 2009, discussing the likely impossibility of bipartisan compromise, John Cole famously said that if you wanted Italian and your friend wanted Chinese, you could probably find some third place to eat dinner that wasn’t what either wanted but was acceptable to both. But if you want Italian and your friend wants tire rims and anthrax, there is no compromise that both can accept.

But I never, until today, thought I’d see the spectacle of an intramural Republican failure to agree due to one side wanting tire rims and the other wanting anthrax.

I’m a little confused as to what the Koch brothers strategy is here. I get that they hate the ACA, and consider the current Republican bill to be ACA-lite as it doesn’t hurt enough people from their viewpoint.

But in refusing to compromise by insisting on a complete repeal of the ACA, they’re likely to end up with the ACA continuing to be the law of the land. I know they’re ideologues, but I thought they were smarter than this…or am I missing something?

That made me laugh so hard I had to hand the tablet to my wife to read; I couldn’t quote it without breaking up.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. But two 180° turns … mean that you’re chasing your own tail.

So what we have left is no health care coverage, just the scammy health insurance that used to be sold with high deductibles and nothing covered.

Oh, yeah. And destruction of Medicaid.

And, because it’s the Repubs, huge tax giveaway to the wealthy.

Did I miss anything?

Damn!

The Heritage Foundation hates TrumpRyan/AHCA too! But it is a GoP plan! How can that be?

I guess Ryan has no favorites at the Heritage, huh?

For seven long damn years they’ve been fighting their perceived monster…come to find out, its not at all bad as they had proclaimed!

Now they all have caca all over their faces!

’ a repeal of the regulatory architecture of Obamacare that is responsible for the rising cost of health care.” AGAIN…I do not think the ACA is the end all and be all but FOR CRIPES SAKE. Did anyone there ever have INSURANCE before 2010? Do they REALLY expect to repeal the ACA and the insurance companies who have been screwing the government instead of the consumer directly since 2010 are going to come flooding back and lower their prices? REALLY?

Heritage Action is a reliable bunch of loons of course, but I’m still delighted they are screaming “NO!” for any cockamamie reason at all! The poor knuckle-draggers in the GOP caucus must be so bewildered wanting desperately to snatch healthcare away from 24 million people, yet having their own conservative jackals screaming for them not to!

What’s a braindead person like Marsha Blackburn, or Steve King to do??
