Late on Sept. 20, the Wikileaks Twitter account sent Donald Trump, Jr. a message providing the password to a new Mother Jones project called putintrump.org (the password was putintrump).
Donald Jr. emailed senior campaign officials about the exchange, Mother Jones reports—and then the project was flooded with suspicious traffic and spam, and the people working on it saw their personal information spread online. Donald Jr. thanked Wikileaks—probably Assange—and the conversation went dark …
It’s a near certainty the Mother Jones servers will have logged the IP addresses (and possibly more identifying details) of the intruders. Let’s see if Junior and his friends were stupid enough to break in using normal domestic internet services.
Interesting. Just watched John Oliver talk about trolls.
And a quick read through the comments from that account does nothing to dispel that notion. A troll, one way or the the other. The above comment covers the same ground as nearly all of that account’s comments, just change the nouns/names to the relevant things/people and repeat the calls for violence and upping the ante, and that’s pretty much all of several hundred comments since July. The comments from that account are a deeply unpleasant read but it’s useful to look at them.
Yeah, some mighty illiberal apples falling from that there tree.
Of all the sleeze going to jail, I have a personal wish one of them is Ruskie Roger Stone.
Great recap, Sam.
“But, probably because of its role in the Edward Snowden revelations, Wikileaks commanded much more serious treatment” is a little sloppy or misleading. Snowden’s revelations did not appear on Wikileaks. These appeared in The Guardian, NYT and later Der Spiegel.
Trumps and whores; what’s up with that?
Sounds like the Republicans have an iron clad excuse to investigate President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and James Comey.
Clearly, they are guilty - otherwise Trump, Jr. wouldn’t be doing such patriotic work trying to uncover the truth.
Note: sadly, that’s probably a true statement in Fox News world.
If being a troll means hating my enemies then call me guilty. These filth aren’t human fucking beings and I will never apologize for wanting their utter destruction.
I was going to cite the same passage. I do not remember Wikileaks having a role in the Snowden leaks.
