Actually, if you look at the winner take all states that are left, Trump has to screw up majorly to avoid getting enough delegates to have the nomination sewed up before the convention.
Nice report, Stephen!
a repeat question.
Let us assume this article’s count of delegates is accurate.
Let us also accept that in many cases ( Indiana as an example) the delegate slots are being filled with anti drumpf individuals. So in a situation where several ( say 6 just for argument) anti drumpf dlelgate is committed to voting for drumpf on the first ballot decides to start drinking early with their alternate and doessn’t make it to the convention for the first ballot.
Does this mean that the convention goes to a second ballot?
Or do those “committed” votes count even when delegates ( and alternates) are not present to vote?
Pennsylvania could be trouble for Trump. The state has a unique system in which 54 delegates — three from each congressional district — are listed by name on the ballot, with no information for voters to know which candidate they support.
Okay, now this is a bullshit system.
Also, not mentioned about West Virginia’s system is that while the delegates’ support is listed, voters have to pick exactly 22 delegates. If someone votes for 23, their entire ballot is thrown out.
I don’t see that. There are only 5 WTA states left, and they add up to only 150 delegates. And Trump might not even win them all.
I can easily see Cruz winning many of the upstate NY districts even as Trump has a big win overall.
I can’t wait to see how my fellow New Yorkers in the Republican party fall out to support a guy who repeatedly called us immoral degenerates. I hope Cruz gets the vote(s) he deserves. As for me, I’ll be voting for Hillary again, but hoping for a better result than last time.
Nate Silver’s recent state-by-state analysis is much more detailed and persuasive. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/a-state-by-state-roadmap-for-the-rest-of-the-republican-primary/
Trump could let loose of some of those billions and start buying delegates. I can see it now;
TRUMP Delegates…Amazing and Huge!
Trumpley, The Amazing Mr.,
Will go down in a barage of Rmoney/Rayn.
…and he won’t be happy about it.
Pay heed RNC! Your days are numbered. The legion of Storm Trumpers are making their plans for Cleveland…and it’s not going to be pretty!
(*Popcorn please!!!)
Buy off delegates and public officials like the Koch Brothers have been doing in state races for the past few decades?
