Well I would rather have a driverless car following me, while the woman puts on her makeup, than that same woman tailgating at 60mph while putting on said makeup.

A driverless car would allow the idiot that seemed to find what ever was on the floor of his car more interesting than driving while slowing and starting in the moving lane of traffic, to at least keep going and get to where ever he is supposed to be going.

There are so many reasons for driverless cars, probably as many as the number of “driverless cars” we have now with those behind the wheel, texting, putting on make-up, talking on the phone, driving with one hand while drinking the morning latte or reading the screen on the console so as to not miss anything on FB.

Of course Google is going to be ‘at the table’ and very involved in driver-less car regs. They’re a very wealthy and influential company with vested interest in driverless-cars.
The author seemed surprised by a corporations pro-active involvement in swaying laws to their liking. Perhaps Mr. Pritchard’s not from America… or Earth.

Who do you think writes the laws/regs for the Oil Industry (hint: it’s the Oil Industry) or the Factory Farm Industry (hint: it’s the Factory Farm Industry) or the Telecom Industry (hint: it’s the Telecom Industry). Google isn’t doing anything new here.
