Discussion: Here's How Everyone Is Reacting To Mueller's Letter To Barr

What Giuliani said was totally contrary to Barr’s words. Didn’t they need to at least have some consensus?

Naw. They are fine with just muddying up the waters, then will point to the resulting confusion as evidence of innocence.

You know, there seems to be the problem with lying and covering up important information. It ultimately does not stay covered up, then they keep trying to explain themselves and digging an ever deeper pit.
I’ll bet Barr will be regretting he ever came to offer his fine services to the POS in the WH.

Fine services? Barr is the Cover-up General according to William Safire during his last stint as AG. These are the services he is again providing.

Chuck Schumer is Joe Biden 2.0.

I still don’t understand what the playoff for Barr is to be dragged through the mud like this. Doesn’t make sense, unless there is a yacht full of cash…

Mueller failed to complete the job and now we have Barr fixing things for Trump while making a mockery of the US just e system and laws of the land!

Sadly, with leaders like Pelosi and Schumer allowing Barr and the White House to run out the clock, the Democrats lose politically and prove they are too weak to govern.

I’ve been thinking about why Barr would do this a lot. And trying to explain the refusal of a single congressional Republican to break ranks. I’ve come to the conclusion that bribery or blackmail or fear of Trump’s base or even a combination of the 3 can’t explain it. So only one explanation remains. The realization has dawned on the Republican Party as an institution that they only barely scraped out the 2016 election with massive Russian help, and that winning future elections depends on that massive Russian help continuing. And not just for Presidential elections, we’re talking about control of the Senate, which means control of the courts. They have made the conscious decision, as an institution, to be all in on electoral theft for all elections going forward indefinitely. Barr’s always been a party soldier. He has his party orders. The conspiracy is going to continue with or without Trump.

Brennan:

“I thought [Barr would] protect the rule of law and institution of the Department of Justice."

Either Brennan is lying or he should have been fired when he was a mere analyst at the CIA.

Schiff:

No one can place any reliance on what Barr says. We need to hear from Mueller himself.

And that’s why a subpoena was sent out … when?

Hard to argue with one point (and only one point) made by Giuliani. Mueller should have made a decision instead of tying himself in knots to pass the buck. He laid out why he had Trump dead to rights then punted. I appreciate Mueller’s hard work and thoroughness but don’t have much respect for his attempt to thread the needle. Speak plainly and you won’t be misunderstood!

Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani:

He called Mueller’s letter “very odd” in an interview with NBC, adding that “if he didn’t want confusion, he should have made a decision. He was made special counsel to make decisions, and the fact he didn’t says to me (that Trump) was innocent.”

Mueller wrote a 400 page report to avoid any confusion. Clearly, the WH wants the American people to NOT decide for themselves.

OK, if the Democrats are too craven to impeach Trump, can they at least impeach Barr?

I’m sure many of them now believe that the survival of Western civilization depends on Russia and the U.S. combining forces. Their are many who say this outright.

What Giuliani says is always contrary to reality. Not only don’t they need consensus, but the more bullshit they throw, the better they can sow confusion and provide scattershot talking points for Foxiverse.

I think it’s more likely that Mueller was not allowed to finish the job. The timing of the report’s release may have a lot more to do with Barr’s involvement in and direction of the investigation than whatever progress Mueller had or had not made.

Let’s assume for the sake of argument that Mueller had made a decision and spoke plainly that the evidence supports the indictment of Trump on multiple charges of obstruction of justice.

Would Barr release that recommendation to the public or redact it because DoJ policy forbids the indictment of a sitting president and the release would undermine the authority of the duly elected president? Would Barr support the current DoJ policy or would he rescind it because the policy itself is an obstruction of justice that can only be corrected by impeachment? Would he release the recommendation to Congress so it can be fully informed on the propriety of impeachment? Would any of us know any more than we currently do, or would we know even less? Does a bear shit in the woods?

Sometimes the payoff comes further on down the road. It’s so much easier then, for those involved…and safer.

In any other administration Barr would’ve resigned and an investigation would’ve been opened. In this administration he’ll probably get a raise.
