Discussion: Here Are The People Arrested With Bundys In Burns

Discussion for article #245151

Booking photos of Ammon Bundy, 7 others after arrest near Burns.

My math skills aren’t what they once were, but that looks like 6 others. Unless the 7th is invisible. Ohhhh! Invisible Patriot! That could be the title of Finicum’s next book! Wait…

Maybe the 7th is just so white he doesn’t stand out against the background…

Also… Hahaha! Enjoy Federal Prison for the rest of your live traitors! Don’t worry, you will never have to do an honest day’s work again.

That’s right. Now their families can fend for themselves since these losers abandoned them. Real men? or Real self-centered lazy losers? You can vote here.

Well, at least they’ll get to keep the Hammonds company now. Win/win, I’m sure.

That’s going to be a year or two off, unless these idiots decide to cop a plea and the US Atty decides to allow them to cop a plea. Somehow, I don’t see that happening.

Too bad hanging in a public square isn’t an option anymore.

What would be the point of a hanging? We should (and do) have better ways to establish the authority of the government without state-sanctioned public murders. If you think we should do that, why not bring back the old English punishment for treason: half-hanging, emasculation with burning of the penis and testicles before drawing and quartering. Then we could send the pieces around the country as an object lesson to any to object to lese majesty.

You don’t understand. DADDY TOOK AN OAF!

I guess Bundy will have to be signing over possession of Federal land tracts to various ranchers from his cell.

The faces of “white supremacy?” Those gene pools need some chlorine.

Of course they’ll cop a plea.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics
(2005), in 2003 there were 75,573 cases
disposed of in federal district court by trial or
plea. Of these, about 95 percent were
disposed of by a guilty plea (Pastore and
Maguire, 2003). While there are no exact
estimates of the proportion of cases that are
resolved through plea bargaining, scholars
estimate that about 90 to 95 percent of both
federal and state court cases are resolved
through this process (Bureau of Justice
Statistics, 2005; Flanagan and Maguire,
1990).

Current studies indicate the 90-95% rate of plea bargaining and agreeing to lesser charges to avoid trial holds steady today. The Feds don't want the circus of a show trial. These militants didn't kill or injure anyone, take hostages, kidnap or otherwise commit heinous felonies. The prosecutor will have every reason to want to make this go away quietly. If it doesn't it will be due to the intransigence of the defendants and their counsel.

What’s up with Capt. Sideface?

Meth-induced paralysis.

As long as they serve a couple years, I don’t care what they plead down to. Fucking idiots.

What I REALLY want right now is to see the video of the shoot-out. I want to see the convulsions that roil through the Faux News/GOP/Teatroll excuses machine when it’s shown that the fucker who died deserved it and got what he was asking for. They’re screaming bloody murder and yammering about how “peaceful” these men and their “protest” were, but note: you won’t hear them demanding the video (if there is, indeed, a dash cam video or something of the sort).

The expression, ‘good riddance to bad rubbish’ seems most appropriate here.

TPM:

Another member of the group, rancher LaVoy Finicum, was killed while Ryan Bundy was shot after they allegedly refused to surrender to police at the traffic stop.

I’m glad the FBI and State Police finally took action.

It’s a shame someone had to die over this insurrectionist stupidity. I hope we can round up the rest of them without any more fatalities.

Kind of unfair to bad rubbish IMO.

These people have repeatedly confronted the federal government with threats of violence, and took over a bird sanctuary just to make a point that is still incoherent.

I suspect we can count on their intransigence, though I hope I’m wrong since it would be better for everyone if this were prosecuted without the circus show.

Maybe. Your facts are correct, but I know well that statistics do not describe or predict extreme cases. I think this is an extreme case and suspect the USAtty for Oregon and AG Lynch might want this trial.

It’s also highly likely that Bundy et al. also want this trial.

  • and - real strong chance that these idiots will want to serve as their own attorneys - putting forward illogical rambling defenses / proclamations of their innocence.
