Thatâs a hell of a good question. I donât know how they do it. But hereâs the thingâI was raised by flawed but decent parents. And as often happens I turned out to be a flawed person who tries, when he frames up the choice honestly to himself, to be a decent one myself as much as possible. Often fall short and am not bragging, since I usually use up my bragging energy in chronic self-upbraiding. But Trump? No. There are lines most of us, the decent majority, wouldnât cross.
I think there were people, hominids anyway, very early in our prehistory who realized how enlightened self-interest works. You sit outside the cave as dusk gathers, and think about the saber-tooth cats and bears looking for meat out there, and you think if I help and protect the others, weâre all more likely to survive. And they did, and passed that tendency on, and most of us fundamentally still get it. But not all. Not all.

IMO, this makes no sense on Hellerâs part. Rump brings NOTHING to the table in terms of courting independents and you can forget Dems. Clinton won NV in 2016. Rosen is slightly ahead of Heller. What, exactly, does Heller think his knobgobbling is going to get him with anyone outside of feral trumpers?
Well, it does keep the feral trumpers from turning on him like wild boars and ripping his guts out. Probably everyone in any but the ruby-reddest region is going crazy now because you canât cast the broadest net possible. You have to help Trump shore up his base or the Eye of Mauron* fastens on you.

Speaking for someone else who also tries hard despite many flaws, the mystery is how can there be so many of the Trump bootlickers? How can so many look at themselves in the mirror (or in the great words of John Lennon, âhow do you sleep?â) And, if youâre a parent, itâs even harder to fathom. Thatâs the really troubling part âŚ
On another topic in the news, I am very troubled by the screamers following Nancy Pelosi and it only raises my fears about what Trump will telegraph to his followers, who are just waiting for the call. Then, Dean Heller and the rest of you, how do you rationalize that?
