Discussion for article #230312

Here’s some little know facts about King’s heroic ‘tour’s of duty,’ during the Vietnam War! Being such a proud man, King doesn’t talk about them, so we’ll let other’s talk about his bravery in the ‘line of fire!’

Yeah, because winning the Iowa Caucus is key to becoming the GOP nominee. Mike Huckabee and Ron Raul will attest to that.

(though not universally happy about it)

It is certainly hard to get millions of even like-minded individuals to agree on every aspect of any candidate… Just like our molecular DNA, our political DNA is complicated, and while certain proteins match up, others don’t mix well at all. My nucleobase and your nucleobase may not match at every atom, but we still have to find a way to synthesize unity despite our differences.

Until Democrats learn that hard lesson, they will always be playing catchup with Republicans whose differences are profoundly outweighed by their shared prejudice.

“…the “Freedom Summit” in Des Moines on January 24. Its cosponsors are Citizens United (of Supreme Court fame) and U.S. Rep. Steve King.”

They are fortunate this happens in the dead of winter, or there would be potential for massive protests, even more massive if Ferguson degrades into a violent debacle of any sort.

If there was ever an event, an organization and an individual that Occupy should protest with every inch of their substance, it is this conference, because just in this short sentence, some of the true founts of the Tea Mob’s unwarranted power are represented more graphically than anything I have read, anywhere.

someone misspelled “coconspirators”…

Of those listed in the article, Christie, Portman, Bush and perhaps Carson frighten me from the stance of being able to run reasonable campaigns. The rest of the Klown Kar Kaucus makes me laugh…

He would make a great movie: “Comedy of Errors”.

Bush/Christie will be the Republican ticket.

The same one-syllable name that the shitkickers can remember allied with the Bully from Jersey who will be the attack-dog during the campaign.

What worries me about this ticket is the fact that Jeb Bush is a LOT smarter (in a Machiavellian way) than his idiot brother, has a Latino Wife, and is the darling of the Oligarchs (as he is “one of them”) and Christie is the darling of the Misogynist/Racist/Fascist wing of the Republicans.
This would be a very tough ticket to beat.
Hopefully the moron-wing of the Republicans (Steve King, et. al.) will prevail and we will see a Ted Cruz/Rand Paul ticket but I don’t think the Wall Street Money-Men will allow that.

I was fully expecting to see ol’ Newt on that list and of course there is still talk of a Paul Ryan candidacy too.

Heck, why not open the cattle call up to any conservative, born in America, over the age of 35?

While anyone who actually wants to win the nomination isn’t going to be deliberately rude to King at this point in the game, no realistic candidate is going to want his actual endorsement. Not because it will be remembered beyond the Iowa caucus, but because he won’t be placated by insincere Romney style promises without the track record of crackpot conservatism to show you mean it.

The best bet for who will be the Republican nominee is whoever looks most comfortable taking a photo op with King without actually getting the full embrace.

It"S toO baD aLL these FINE coNSerVAtive PrESIDEntiaL caNDIDates CAN’t aLL be PResIDENt at THE saME tiME. It wOULD be LIKE the 2014 MiaMI hEAT where Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh ALMOSt woN the SUPErbOWL!!!1!1!1one!!!1!!!

Well that would leave out Canuck Cruz.

I honestly think the 2016 GOP Primary season will make 2012 look orderly, tame, and successful, and I can’t wait!

Except the results of the 2014 election suggest the story would be “As You Like It”.

Bush probably; but I can’t see him carrying an albatross like Christie on the ticket.

Then you may be Waiting for Godot; the GOP has already taken measures to preclude another 2012 primary season fiasco.

If Democrats can’t get their GOTV act together, the 2016 election could be an uphill effort.

There probably won’t be any guacamole there but you can bet thre will be a lot of guano loco ( Spanglish used in honor of Congressman King).

I don’t think the “establishment” GOP has it in them to prevail this time. The base is restless, tired of the establishment running squishes. It is time for the all out crazy to get in the ring and run their flavor of the month. Once Cruz starts shutting down the government and trying to impeach the President no establishment candidate will stand a chance.

Is he the Grand Ayatollah of Iowa? The Iranian head Shiite Honcho pick who can run. By the way the difference between an Ayatollah and a Grand Ayatollah is leather seats and AC.
