Discussion: Health Care Giant Aetna Requests Refund Of Donation To Hyde-Smith Campaign

When you’ve gone too far for a bloodsucking health insurance company and a company known for using international slave labor -so that they feel the need to disavow and distance themselves from you…well, I guess that says it all.

“We really love everything the Republican party is doing right now and are donating money to make more of it happen, but our conscience will not allow us to support…” oh please.

That’s gonna leave a mark, because it’ll cause other funders to run as well. Means she is being perceived as brand-toxic.

You could say that this is a healthy development…

Who wants to bet the grinch won’t take her grubbies off that sweet, sweet cash?

Well yeah, but that’s because she wanted front row seat.

It needs to be highlighted that ALL of the donations that are the subject of refund requests were made WELL AFTER she made her despicable comment.

These companies didn’t suddenly develop a conscience — they got caught supporting a white supremacist and now, like Superman, they want to fly backwards around the equator and go back in time. They’re not upset by her comment; they are upset they got caught supporting her. Period.

ETA: I would like to’ve been in the PR meeting where they discussed their surprise that being pro-lynching was polling so badly.

We’ve requested that Cindy Hyde-Smith refund our contribution to her Senate campaign following recent remarks that are highly offensive and simply unacceptable. We’ll redirect those funds to groups working to fight racism in our country.

Aetna has discovered Hyde-Smith’s pre-existing condition and does not want to cover it.

These requested refunds are in the range of $2,000 … $2,500 … they are - in the context of corporate support- “nominal” … not too surprisingly that the requests for return of funds have been slow … but as noted - it is a sign that Hyde-Smith has gone rancid … and corporations are checking their cupboards to make sure they don’t have her on the shelff.

You’re exactly right. But my expectations are so low for good corporate citizenship (Facebook and Twitter for example), that I’ll still take it.

Of course, if she wins, they’ll go right back to funding her hoping nobody notices.

The fact that they even donated to her in the first place says all that you need to know about the company. Same goes for any corporation that donates to a political figure without checking their record, comments, and platform.

Just playing both sides of the fence to be on the safe side.

Public financing of all election campaigns. Donations have poisoned the political system long before Citizens United which further destroys our government,

Did she ask Aetna where her dental rider was?

As we speak (and comment here this AM) FOX news, the RNC and Hyde-Smith are working on the slogan and Trump tweets to portray Aetna as a left wing, globalist, elitist menace, out to take away Mississippians’ guns, force interracial marriages upon their daughters, and impose mandatory vaccinations on all of them. And fluoride in their water (for us geezers with intact memories).

When is Hyde-Smith’s rancid problems going to effect Phil Bryant, the man who appointed her?

And my problem with Hyde-Smith is not just what she said, but listening to her speak at all. How did she get elected so many times in Mississippi to public office? Is this a case of getting her a job away from us?

Do you want your health insurer to be funding people like this, even though it’s only small change for them? Like to see what other corporates sent her money.

Those are close to the maximum, which is $2700. They may give more in a sense by bundling contributions from executives and employees, but it doesn’t come from the company itself, so each person would have to ask for it back individually.
