It’s amusing watching the cognitive dissonance of these right-wing religious types - Catholics like this asshole, and the Evangelicals - as they try to reconcile their usual Bible thumping with their support of Trump.

this guy has no business interpreting the pope. he doesn’t even speak human let alone pope.

Somehow, I am not surprised that the meaning “in favor of just borders” is morphed from “fair” to “only” in this person’s mind. Misinterpreting the Pope’s clear message for political purposes seems like a bad idea for any true believer Catholic to do.

Catholic League President Bill Donohue

Isn’t only ‘president’ of one or two other people beyond himself?

Every once in a while even a douche bag like this needs to break character, look into the camera and say
“Oh Hell, I’m gonna have to get back to you on this”

You usually only see contorting like that when someone’s balancing on the demonic pitchforks of Hell. Weird.

That would be this Catholic League?

Notable expenses - Percent of total expenses

Executive compensation $634,500 22.4%

Not bad for a staff of 13.

I don’t get what he’s saying. Is he trying to elevate Trump to sainthood or just discount his own faith?

I swear Trump must get together with his friends at night and laugh themselves hoarse

They don’t compute any better than RubioBot.

“The Catholic League” is a grifter organization created to make money and push Donohue’s Fascist Ideas.

It’s not nice to speak of the dead in that way. Scalia hasn’t even been buried yet.

Why on Earth does CNN continue to put this man up as some kind of expert? Please…good thing Bill’s tinfoil hat is not showing. AFAIK, the “Catholic League” consists of this man and the voices in his head.

You nailed this hack with your question as to what a “true believer” would do.

Just reading the headline, I knew it would be Donohue.

At some point, perhaps, Pope Francis will have to take an explicit stand on the importance of Trump not being elected leader of the free world. As might the political leaders of Germany, France, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Poland…

To be fair, the Catholic League also played an important part in the St. Bartholemew’s Day massacre back in 1572. Which is probably Donohue’s model for the vigorous defense of the Catholic faith (or at least his version of it).

Indeed. My dad used to refer to this kind of guy as a “professional Irishman”. Tv channels have him on speed dial under “Catholic Outrage”. He no more represents Catholics than Michael Savage represents Jews.
