This is bad newsâfor Mark Halperin.
Apologies if thatâs been said here like 11 times already. But if it hasnât been then someone should just get it over with and I figured Iâd go ahead and take care of it.
I really donât understand the love for Mark Halperin among the Washington insiders. Iâve always thought him overrated, substantially.
I find his personal views often color his reporting, much to its detriment. I suppose itâs fine if his job is to editorialize, but if heâs supposed to inform the viewer objectively based on his experience and access, he leaves much to be desired. I also find many of his comments unprofessional for someone in his position.
Not Breaking News: The guy who called President Obama a dick is a dick.
I wish they could procede without Halperin. Game Change on the 2012 election was great.
So obviously the women around him knew. How many of the men knew? (And yeah, the dropping like a hot potato is to avoid having to pay out large sums. In a way, itâs Adam Smithâs invisible hand, or the libertarian wisdom of the marketâŚ)

Now, if heâd just apologize for his serial abuse of journalismâŚ
Iâm glad these guys are starting to fall like dominoes. Many, many more to come. Have we reached some sort of tipping point here, where this will no longer be tolerated (unless the president is doing it, that is)?
I also think we just need to start boycotting Woody Allen films and the like. Enough already. I really enjoyed Woodyâs work in the 70s and 80s (yeah, I was creeped out by the affair with the 17 year old in âManhattanâ, but somehow I guess I rationalized it, which I realize is BS), but I pledge not to watch any more of his movies, new or old, ever (this is in reaction to what Iâve heard about his latest movie AND all the other historical sludge attached to him). Iâve got two daughters and I want a better world for them.
Halperin is one of the worst influences in our political media over the past 20 years. I always thought him a dolt, and his âthis is good news for John McCainâ was a line I used often in posts to mock and underscore what a stupid fucking moron he is. But what I didnât get is how much power he had in the political media industry. I was mocking him all the while he was the guy who was shaping narratives against Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. He fellated Trump on the campaign trail routinely in '16. Now we know why: two pussy grabbers of a feather.
Our political media dumbed itself down to the level of the Republican Party. I might not like George Willâs or Chris Wallaceâs political views, but I do look at them as men of some intelligence and intellectual rigor. I always saw Halperin as stupid fucking hack. I just donât know how one works in the same industry as a guy like him and not think âthat dumb fuck is stupid fucking hack. I can take that guy!â. But no, the political media community bowed to him. People were afraid to challenge himâŚHIMâŚOur demise began long before Trump. Iâd start with Newt Gingrich with the antecedents being the moral majority that formed Reaganâs right flank. But Halperin and his ilk are clearly a part of the story.
Our media is sick and rotten. We the people need to fix it.
I knew I really did not like this guy, but I thought it was his reporting. He has done nothing but repeat talking points and share commonly held pundit idiocy like it was insider wisdom for decades, almost always totally wrong. Never understood his popularity, but I can say that for most of the pundits and Washington insiders we are assaulted with daily. He brings nothing to the discussion - nice to see him get his ass handed to him.
Why would NBC fear that? It may have been an open secret at ABC, but nothing has been reported yet about misconduct where he is now. After all, he hasnât anything like the power over staff he had when he was political director at ABC News.
Yea, me neither. Basically a both-sides GOP apologist pretending to be neutral. Why anyone could pretend otherwise is beyond me. I stopped reading The Atlantic (on-line) because of him. Have to say Iâm not surprised. He always seemed like a jerk - too full of himself.
Iâve seen plenty of people in lots of industries strive to acquire power precisely because they are hacks, and they know it, and they know their talents wonât take them anywhere good, so they have to move forward by other, less meritorious means. Youâve seen it too. Way of the world. Nice when one tumbles though.
First time I noticed Halperin (who comes from a proud Dem family, go figure), he covering for a poor debate performance by George Bush. He insisted upon seeing into the mind of George Bush and saying âThe President was just so disgusted by John Kerryâs behaviorâ that he did poorly. His âanalysisâ lacked any substance at all, and I realized what a total GOP shill he was.
It sounds like he goes to all the same parties as OâReilly and Ailes and Weinstein. These guys have gotten away with a lot for a long time. Hereâs hoping these guys continue getting whatâs coming to them.

Do you mean the HBO movie about the McCain/Palin run? That was a great, if bone-chilling, movie but it was about the 2008 election.
I came away from that movie with a much higher opinion of Nicole Wallace and Steve Schmidt and, while I know that they adhere to what they view as true Reagan conservatism, they are red hot right now with their outrage over Tramp and this whole badministration.
