Discussion: Hawley Defeats McCaskill To Flip Missouri Senate Seat To GOP

Bummer. She was one of Obama’s early supporters – maybe the first senator to endorse him, at a time when Hillary was still the overwhelming favorite.

I’m hearing someone on CNN say - can’t remember which - that in going around these states, a big factor in MO and ND and IN were the votes against Kavanaugh. Maybe. But fuck that. The guy is a disaster. I’m glad they took a principled stand against him.

Frankly I wonder whether the embrace of the border wall cost Donnelly and McCaskill some D votes.

This is sad. Hawley’s a dick. Claire’s a friend.

Did I mention Hawley’s a lying, fucking, piece of shit?

There are some absolutely odious people heading to the Senate and this is a big, big problem for 2020 and for SCOTUS for a generation. But hey… I’m trying to look at the upside here.

Oh, yeah. The house. Frankly I’d rather have the Senate than the House, just for the courts.

If it wasn’t already clear that Dems are at a structural disadvantage vis a vis the Senate, and the electoral college, it is now.

Losing all these Senate seats is not good. It wasn’t too awful long ago that Missouri was a battleground state. Haven’t heard a thing yet on the NV or Montana Senate races.

Misery.

We just have to hope rbg or no other left leaning scotus dies before we can get trump out of office

SHE was a total disgrace anyway.
go look at her fox interview and tell me she should have won.

I have thought that a better attack against Kavanaugh would have been to stress his right-wing political hackery. It was my impression that he was the most partisan SCOTUS nominee ever. He working for Fucking Ken Starr for chissssake. He also lied about his support for torture and other awful Bush policies among his other lies. His demeanor alone should have disqualified him.

I’m not saying that I don’t believe the accusation against Kavanaugh for sexual assault and binge drinking well into his twenties if not beyond. I do believe the women. It’s just that argument against the politics of partisanship in SCOTUS nominations might not have energized the Deplorables as much as the personal attacks.

But, who knows? Maybe in the end, it wouldn’t have matter anyway.
