Mo Brooks said that these volcano thingers erupt because rocks and stuff are falling underground due to environmentalists making park boundaries and stopping capitalism from moving forward.

Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupted from its summit before dawn Thursday, shooting a dusty plume of ash about 30,000 feet (9,100 meters) into the sky.

Kilauea lies a lot, more’n SHS.

Is this an allegory for Trump loosing his shit over the SC?

Kilauea is tame compared to what will spew from Trump. Of course, Trump’s eruption will be all tweets, rather than rocks, ash and lava.

If Kiauea has enough emissions to cause some temporary climate cooling, the deniers will milk another 10 years of life out of it.

More big rocks in the ocean. Rep. Brooks is clutching his pearls.

Also, volcanoes are freaking cool, with apologies to those who have their lives uprooted by them.

Reality based news. How refreshing.

The comparative health effects of the eruptions are an area of open research.

Volcanic eruptions are typically limited in direct toxicity, with SO2 the primary toxic gas. (CO2 is also present, but it is an asphyxiating gas rather than a toxic gas). The ash particles are a known irritant to the respiratory passages.

The toxicity of the current Resident’s tweet eruptions has not been well-characterized to date. Anecdotal evidence suggests that there is a high degree of toxicity to mental health, but clinical trial proposals have been denied thus far by IRBs. University animal-use panels have similarly denied applications for research using animal models.

Hydro-effing-fluoric acid???

Now that is messed up. USGS notes that other hydrogen halides (HCl, HBr, HI) can also show up. The geochemistry must be some kind of reaction with seawater or another brine source…

But it’s still down on the list below carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and sulfur dioxide.

Hydrofluoric acid… (shakes head) … I still think a Trump word-salad is probably more toxic.
