REV- Actually, information made public does not make it clear or refute the possibility that Hastert could have been making earlier hush money payments or provided “favors” to the abuse victim. Now. there are reports that it might be more than one victim.
Imagine what American recent history could have been if these “youthful indiscretions” had truly shamed these abusers and they had not entered or continued their hypocritical political careers.
BTW: It’s galling when the MSM refers to a possible “…inappropriate relationship” between Hastert and a male student…a teacher and a student!!!
It’s isn’t a ‘relationship’; it’s predation. It isn’t simply “inappropriate”; it’s criminal.
And no one could possibly believe that victim “A” is the only kid who was victimized by Hastert. This is only the tip of the iceberg.
Next, of course, FOX will be saying “mistakes were made” and the liberal media…blah, blah, blah. And in Baggerstan and FOXbizarroworld, Hastert will become the “victim” in all this. It will be the fault of liberals, Obama and gays…oh, and of course Hillary and Benghazi!
Before this is finished, if the reporters and the people “sifting memories,” discover the truth, the kids abused by Hastert (as with the pedoDuggar, Josh) will probably resemble a Lays potato chip.
$3.5 is a huge payoff, especially considering when it began. I’m thinking that there are pictures, video or a stained outfit stashed away, something that Denny really, really doesn’t want exposed.
The same sex, totally inappropriate act is an embarrassing revelation but $3.5 mill suggests that there is something or someone else.
Knowing the Republicans and their, not family values history, they are probably subsidizing Denny’s payoff to keep it hidden. They already had Newt exposed for infidelity as he called out Clinton for the same, then his replacement (whom was exposed by Larry Flynt of all people), then Delay and quite a few more before this, supposed Mr. Wholesome but really sexual deviant Hastert expose. The Repubs don’t have a squeaky clean guy, unless alcoholic Boener is considered that. I’ll bet Boener is busy erasing his past at this very moment.
Nixon proved it and its been true ever since. The Repubs commit sins and crimes and are terrible at the cover up of those sins and crimes, which is also another crime.
The Republicans need a mass coming out and come to Jesus moment. They are lost in their hypocrisy and judgment.
I don’t believe its out there yet but whether 14 or even 18, Hastert is shamed for life and the Republican Party takes another huge hit.
Its funny that telling the truth never comes to their mind after its already basically all known anyways. It must be pretty saucy.
The Repubs have Reagan, as propped up as he is, and that’s about it. And most of todays teabagging Repubs don’t even claim him. They lack heroes and at this pace they’ll be having to go outside of their rich, whites only box, to get away from their problems.
As we saw with the Catholic Church and Jerry Sandusky, the ability of people to not see things that are right there in front of them when seeing it would threaten their own beloved institutions, personal power, careers track, or meal tickets is boundless.
Apparently at least one victim came forward and insisted that Hastert pay for his sins…and he agreed. The small town needs to face up to the cold hard realities in life. You can’t always trust Republicans. You should never trust them.
My dad, who died a few years back, believed that with his heart. His parents lived through the Depression and came out of it believing every Republican cared about only one thing: Money. My grandmother told me long ago that Republicans are lying sacks of shit not to be trusted for what comes out of their mouths. So, there’s that. So far, they’ve been right.
I worked years as a volunteer in Scouting. Never understood why women were not allowed to participate in some of the activities away from home and were excluded from any leadership beyond toiling at the weekly den meetings and fund raising activities. Now we all know. We all kind of suspected. If gays had been leaders, I bet we would have learned about it a lot faster. Keeping out women and gay men protected the child molesters.
You would have thought that the incompetence of 911, the Iraqi lie and Second GOP Great Depression and worldwide run on the banks would have been enough to take the blinders off the Reagan Myth. I guess we have been so cowered by the Cult of the Unborn and GunSlingers that it took numerous and escalating cases of GOP child molestations to finally lift the veil. Well, it’s all out in the open now. Either you are with their depravity and greed or you are horrified by it.
I think you may have hit a nail squarely on the head with that observation. As a man, I always wondered that as well. I can understand if the guys–or gals–want an occasional “Male-bonding” (Female-bonding for the ladies) sort of trip, but by and large what you said makes sense.
