Discussion for article #242510
Scarborough fired back on Wednesday in a statement to Politico, saying that Reid is âblindedâ by hate.
How classy.
âBrzezinski, the so-called âliberalâ foil to conservative Scarborough, announced on the show she had seen the light on the Koch brothers after attending a Koch-backed retreatâŚâI thought the different programs they have had, the conversations they had, addressed really interesting questionsââŚ.â
Is there an emoticon for projectile vomiting?
And Iâm gonna miss this troller of ours, dearly. Frustrating now and then, heâs been an effective leader.
Kissing up to the Kochs: whatâs new with the right wingers? and the media?
Here is from David Kochâs âLibertarianâ platform when he ran in 1980. (For âLibertarianâ read âJohn Birch Societyâ);
Taken from the blog post by Senator Sanders, available at
http://www.sanders.senate.gov/âŚ
Here are just a few excerpts of the Libertarian Party platform that David Koch ran on in 1980: âWe urge the repeal of federal campaign finance laws, and the immediate abolition of the despotic Federal Election Commission.â
âWe favor the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid programs.â
âWe oppose any compulsory insurance or tax-supported plan to provide health services, including those which finance abortion services.â
âWe also favor the deregulation of the medical insurance industry.â
âWe favor the repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system. Pending that repeal, participation in Social Security should be made voluntary.â
âWe propose the abolition of the governmental Postal Service. The present system, in addition to being inefficient, encourages governmental surveillance of private correspondence. Pending abolition, we call for an end to the monopoly system and for allowing free competition in all aspects of postal service.â
âWe oppose all personal and corporate income taxation, including capital gains taxes.â
âWe support the eventual repeal of all taxation.â
âAs an interim measure, all criminal and civil sanctions against tax evasion should be terminated immediately.â
âWe support repeal of all law which impede the ability of any person to find employment, such as minimum wage laws.â
âWe advocate the complete separation of education and State. Government schools lead to the indoctrination of children and interfere with the free choice of individuals. Government ownership, operation, regulation, and subsidy of schools and colleges should be ended.â
âWe condemn compulsory education laws ⌠and we call for the immediate repeal of such laws.â
âWe support the repeal of all taxes on the income or property of private schools, whether profit or non-profit.â
âWe support the abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency.â
âWe support abolition of the Department of Energy.â
âWe call for the dissolution of all government agencies concerned with transportation, including the Department of Transportation.â
âWe demand the return of Americaâs railroad system to private ownership. We call for the privatization of the public roads and national highway system.â
âWe specifically oppose laws requiring an individual to buy or use so-called âself-protectionâ equipment such as safety belts, air bags, or crash helmets.â
âWe advocate the abolition of the Federal Aviation Administration.â
âWe advocate the abolition of the Food and Drug Administration.â
âWe support an end to all subsidies for child-bearing built into our present laws, including all welfare plans and the provision of tax-supported services for children.â
âWe oppose all government welfare, relief projects, and âaid to the poorâ programs. All these government programs are privacy-invading, paternalistic, demeaning, and inefficient. The proper source of help for such persons is the voluntary efforts of private groups and individuals.â
âWe call for the privatization of the inland waterways, and of the distribution system that brings water to industry, agriculture and households.â
âWe call for the repeal of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.â
âWe call for the abolition of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.â
âWe support the repeal of all state usury laws.
You gotta love both Reid and Obama these days. They truly donât give 2 fks about trolling the GOPâŚ
I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouthâŚ(Apologies to Frances McDormand)
He continued: âThose questions are so easy, they may even qualify them to moderate the next Republican presidential debate."
I laughed out loud on that one. Thank you, Senator Reid!
Was Mika tasked with bleaching the floor after the circle jerk?
Seasoned troll and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV)
Hahaha.
Harry was right about the so-called journalism on display. I hope thereâs follow-up to this, lest some people get the absolutely wrong idea about those âcharmingâ Koch boys/robber barons.
I have a great, loving brother who insists heâs Libertarian. Iâve tried repeatedly to get him to understand what Libertarianism really means. The problem is we were raised to âlive and let live,â though my Dad was a die-hard Democrat â which rubbed off on me. After many a conversation, I know deep down my brother is truly a Democrat at heart but he absolutely detests the fact so many politicians today are in the pockets of the uber-wealthy. Me, too, but Iâm pragmatic (mostly). Myself, I am registered neither Dem or Repub so I wonât get all that crap in my mailbox every season.
Seriously, though, thank you for this list, as I am going to copy & paste it for him to read. He would not at all support things such as abolishing Medicare or Social Security, etc. Same goes for the Highway Department and FAA, etc. Most âLibertariansâ today do not really understand all that our federal government really does for the economy, commerce, science, etc.
If there is, please let me know so I can join you.
***I like you a lot BeattyCat.***
In January this year, Brzezinski, the so-called âliberalâ foil to conservative Scarborough, announced on the show she had seen the light on the Koch brothers after attending a Koch-backed retreat in Palm Springs.
âI thought the different programs they have had, the conversations they had, addressed really interesting questions,â Brzezinski said about the event.
Despite that fact that she isnât someone whoâs openly hostile or even offensive, I truly detest Mika on a very visceral level. To me, sheâs the poster child for âlimousine liberalsâ, and sheâs the sort of âsoccer mom feministâ who has more of a problem with Miley Cyrusâ attire (or lack thereof) than Rep. Marsha Blackburnâs policies. Sheâs often held up by Arianna Huffington and other powerful women, like Oprah, as being some sort of trailblazing feminist when sheâs a very weak, useless, timid, clown who plays the role of newsroom hall monitor with her grunts, eye rolling, and âboys, behaveâ commentary. I also find her constant cowering and kowtowing to Joe and the other men on the show to be just a little scary. I really wish sheâd go away.
Thank you! Well stated.
I didnât know that âMorning Joeâ was even on cable any longer, or relevant for that matter? So much Iâve been missing by not following the âliberalâ media, and sticking to AJN.
If they got their way, we would not only be oppressed by the wealthy, we would be so weak as a country that we would be open to being colonized.
If the Democrats donât find a position for this guy somewhere, anywhere, theyâre a bunch of fools.
I donât think thatâs much of a problem. People would have to actually watch the show to get that impression, and itâs my belief that if you subtracted media types, pols, and their staffers from their ratings youâd find only about a 5 people were actually watching.
You know that there was a mile long contract rider for them to do this interview and that is why got they questions they got and no green M&Ms in the green room.
