Probably a bit premature to be saying that. This one could come back to haunt her. Is this what happens when you are polling at 7%?
Better yet, appoint Kamala as the Attorney General under a Democratic administration and watch the fur fly…
That’s, of course, if she doesn’t win. If she does, she should appoint Hillary as AG.
It seems to me that if anyone but Trump is elected, the DOJ would have no choice but to prosecute him. That’s clearly one of the motivations behind the decision to run for reelection. I know he started campaigning right after the inauguration, but he knows that the moment he the new POTUS puts his hand on the Bible, prosecutors will be filing charges. Nixon could negotiate a pardon with all of the relevant parties, but when you have committed crimes in as many jurisdictions as Spankee has, you can’t negotiate with everyone–especially when the crimes involve your family. His only choice is to stay in office.
Cue Trump tweeting disparaging things about a nasty black woman. Dems have 16 months of goading Trump into insulting and alienating a solid 55% of the electorate.
Please no. Then it really does smell of political pay back.
Poor choice of words. It sounds like she’s saying she’ll direct the DOJ to prosecute Trump if she’s President. That’s what Trump said about Clinton in 2016.
In head-to-head polling, at least six Dem candidates beat Trump. Including Harris
The AG can appoint someone else to run the litigation. She doesn’t have to be directly involved.
HRC would never take the role anyway. Just fantasy.
Nope.
Absolutely.
Yep.
That’s a long way off. It’s June 2019.
So much for and independent DOJ.
People forget that the presidency is a fraternity. The Carters, Bushes, and Obamas will be compelled to at least do photo opps with Trumps in the years following whenever Don leaves office. So would President Harris. A president going after her/his opponent following an election is simply bad politics. Trump has threatened to do so against HRC, but we know, especially with him, it’s just a bluff.
That’s snark?
I don’t believe presidents, past and future, should be required to go into a prison to have their picture taken with Donnie Moscow.
When hundreds of prosecutors say it’s only the OLC memo holding back a prosecution, this seems like a slam dunk.
I don’t think she said she would direct them to prosecute…
I believe she was saying that any fair view of the evidence would compel the DoJ to seek charges.
…and she’d be appointing a fair and competent DoJ
If we don’t hold them accountable, they will just return again in 5 to 10 years, just like the GWBush rejects that have resurfaced under Trump.
This is exactly what I thought when I read this. Can we please get away from imperial presidencies (and even the slightest appearance of them)?
