Here’s the thing - right now this is a “rich white people using their money to exploit a loophole” scandal - but if/when we start talking about that loophole - that athletes get preferential treatment over otherwise more highly qualified kids - then we’re no longer limiting this to white kids. Now we’re talking about any athlete who can run, jump, shoot, catch, throw, or dribble a ball getting preferential treatment, and how at many schools the admission standards themselves are lower for athletes than for the general student body. Now we’re talking about thousands of non-white students, and now we’ve got a situation.

Loughlin was only laying down $500k. For reference, four years of tuition alone at USC is $200k. You have to up the ante to many times the cost of tuition before you can just openly purchase access. I would imagine the relevant number at USC is well north of $10 million.

My gruff, veteran, Fox News-loving Brother-in-Law, loves Hallmark movies. He doesn’t miss his “Hallmarks.” I’m thinking it’s a similar world view for Fox and Hallmark.
