Discussion for article #223807
“We could have done a better job, but we didn’t, because we knew you asswipes would throw a wrench in the works with your posturing and politicking and probably get Bergdahl killed as a result.”
That’s what he meant to say.
Good Lord… I almost wish Chuck Hagel was crazy enough to run for President. He’s giving it to them with the bark on and making them like it.
Congress has demonstrated repeatedly over the last few years how unwilling it is to keep sensitive information, especially if they think it will damage this President, confidential.
Sure they could have informed better…but what has Congress demonstrated in the way of ability for the WH to trust them to keep this on the down low until Bergdahl was safe? Five seconds after bolting secure briefing sessions (early, I’ll add), every GOP chickenhawk was clamoring for a microphone to spill.
BTW, I didn’t hear an apology out of Hagel or the President. As it should be.
That most of these ‘five bad guys’ were not so much:
SO he admits it was the thing to do, but, had they done better by congress, it would have been outed and the paratrooper might well still be there.
Or he might even be dead.
I doubt Hagel has much trust in the ability of this Congress to keep that kind of secret. I know I don’t.
That pusbag Saxby Chambliss bragged that if he had been made aware of the proposed swap that he would have run to the TV cameras to prevent it.
Congressional Republicans are seditious fucks. Leaving them out of the loop is necessary to preserve national security and the lives of soldiers.
The GOP is worse than the Taliban or Al Qaida. At least those two outfits don’t wrap themselves in Old Glory as they plot to destroy America and kill Americans.
Sure, this was the right thing to do, is consistent with American foreign policy, and upholds our military standards, but shouldn’t the real focus be on the aesthetics of how this was all presented?
My delicate sensitivities can not abide!
“we could have done a better job of keeping you informed.”
But we didn’t - on purpose. For good reasons. Go pound sand.
