Authorities said neighbors had repeatedly complained about Neal firing hundreds of rounds from his house and engaging in other erratic, violent behavior.
The article doesn’t mention where the NRA will be erecting the shrine to Mr. Neal?
Authorities now say a gunman who killed five people in rural Northern California didn’t die from a police bullet but by his own gun.
See! It took an armed citizen to put a stop to the crime.
Mr. Neal was apparently a member of a well aimed militia…
At least a well-armed minutia.
Police say Neal killed his wife Nov. 13 and went on a shooting rampage in Rancho Tehama Reserve the next day that included firing at an elementary school. He killed four others, including two neighbors, and wounded eight people including a 6-year-old boy.
Authorities said neighbors had repeatedly complained about Neal firing hundreds of rounds from his house and engaging in other erratic, violent behavior.
Relatives say he suffered from delusions and mental problems.
Wow he was the whole mass shooter package wasn't he? Spouse abuse, previous complaints to the police, threatened to shoot neighbors (CNN reporting) AND history of mental illness.
Yet... I just can't imagine what policy we could have enacted to prevent this tragedy.
Its just too bad he didn’t grow pot, that mighta got him arrested before he finally snapped… again.
Wasn’t he supposed to have been killed by a heroic well armed good guy?
Nothing like all those good guys with guns offing themselves, their friends, families, classmates, office workers, etc. They call that “natural selection” in case anyone was wondering.
Pardon my pun, but what is the trigger?
Its one after the other all of a sudden. Its like climate change and 100 year storms happening every 5 years in bunches.
Now we have mass murder and by those that used to just go out alone happening weekly.
Its contagious and getting worse and the gun nuts are adding fuel to the fire by giving the gun freaks more access and to the most dangerous weapons.
We have smart everything and smart technology exists for guns but guess what, the NRA gets a big butthurt if their precious murdering devices are made less lethal.
Since the gunnies like to claim that swimming pools and hammers are just as deadly as a gun, then lets hammer our way into the NRA offices and build a pool in their conference room, maybe that will get the point across.
Yes, what a blessing the second amendment is! The NRA should be proud of all these killings. But frankly, I think the NRA executives should be in prison.
kinda been a rant of mine lately when a mass shooting has occurred: I wonder how much Russian money is with the NRA, it easily fits the model of sowing discord and instability in our country, and if the russians have shown us anything in the last few years, sowing discord (and fear) in our society is a prime objective of theirs, what better organization could they use than the NRA? A byproduct of the NRA’s efforts are lots of dead Americans, why would russia go to the effort to develop some grand scheme when the avenue for enacting an agenda such as this has already been made for you, and hides behind the all-American 2nd Amendment, great cover, all you have to do is write the NRA a check and they will insure that no greater gun safety is achieved.
Maybe the NRA could be considered less of a lobbyist for gun manufacturers and one more for assisting russia achieve its ends
He didn’t do those killings with a gun by any chance, did he?
Relatives say he suffered from delusions and mental problems.
Sounds like classic symptoms of NRA disease.
Tax bullets?
Every. Single. Day. about 60 Americans self-treat mental disease, often temporary depression or anxiety, with a self-injected fatal dose of 2nd Amendment.
Kevin Neal was just 1 of 60, in 1 day out of 365, in 1 year out of life in an America where we have allowed greed and irrationality to prevent even the smallest, most sensible limits on 2nd-amendment rights.
Now let us consider what happens if the GOP get’s it’s way and the ACA is stripped away shall we? Instead of 60 U.S. citizens a day going off their meds and committing mass shootings we would have ten thousand a day. Couple hundred of them in the DC Capital Hill area. Who will the Republicans blame?
I think what you’re seeing is the cumulative work of multiple factors: tear down of social services, including mental health, deterioration of economic security for many rural and working class Americans, degradation of the social network of family and friends one can lean on in times of crisis. Combined with lax gun laws, the ability to turn to “like minded individuals” on the internet, and a culture steeped in violence on the news and in film.
Right now is a very, very stressful time. For those who don’t have people, services, or employment to turn too, the stress and anxiety could be to much.
